I don't fully understand your post ... did you set up a new DAW running win7 i.e. new Sonar installation from scratch? Did you install Platinum or X3?

Make sure you have the latest V-Studio drivers. They are available from Roland's support site and accommodate Windows 7 64-bit systems. I use the V-Studio with a Windows 7 64-bit setup running Platinum.

I have "only" upgraded from X3 to PLatinum and hence had no issues with the VS-700 ... however, I remember threads just recently where guys did clean installs of Platinum and had missed installing some components for the VS-700 which only came with Sonar until X3 (??) ... I suggest hopping over to the Cakewalk Hardware forum and browsing some of the recent threads ...

Don't shoot me for asking this, but did you check Preferences to ensure you have the VS-700 selected as the Control Surface and to make sure all MIDI devices are correct? I'm sure you did, but overlooking that sounds like something I would do.

I tried everything I even took off work early only to have my call dropped at 3pm seems cakewalk phone support stops at 3pm sharp. I'd really appreciate some help with this, as everything worked fine in sonar x2 I'm starting to wish I'd kept my old setup

The Forumites may be able to help you ... but you need to keep feeding us with more information ... I'm still not clear about your situation. Are you saying the interface is working OK for XLR/line/ADAT input/output, but you just cannot get the Fantom to produce any sound? If so, have you checked if you get Fantom sound via direct monitoring (using the external VS-700 settings editor routing it directly to your mian outputs there) ideally by sending MIDI data from an appliction other than Sonar? This would help us locate whether Sonar is the problem or the VS-700 installation / configuration...

clean installation of platinum cause this issue. for some resoen cakewalk didn't put the vs 700 control surface driver include the installation like x1 , x2 , x3 which they all come with it. I had the same problem . I installed a clean windows and platinum without installing x3. so when i tried to choose vs 700 from control surface option, I couldn't find it. I had to install the setup file belong to vs 700 to make it work. as soon as i instead the file , vs 700 showed up in control surface option. I think because vs 700 is discontinued , cakewalk doesn't like to get involve anymore to vs 700.
