Sonar X3 1 CPU higher than rest. Tried suggested Fixes

Hi,

I have one CPU that is higher than the rest. I have disabled Parked CPU Cores, Made Sure my VST's and VSTi's are either 64bit and multiprocessing enabled and also done tests of disabling all VST's by pressing "E" and this didn't make a real impact either.

Does anyone have any other suggestions that may cause this please?

Kind Regards
Joe

Any power saving options enabled in bios?
is the thread scheduling model set to '2' in prefs?

    Hi,

No no power saving anywhere :) as I have checked the Thread Scheduling and it is set to 1. Should it be set to 2? If so what exactly does this do please?

    Kind Regards

I could be wrong here but I'm sure its been said that windows 8 spreads the workload across all cores more efficiently. Also, core 1 is always higher than the rest, at least in my experience ...depends how much higher it is relatively speaking as to whether or not its a problem for you, or are you just tweaking?

Thanks for the link I have tried it and that seems to have evened it out even more.

And Wizard71 we are just tweaking it to get it as efficient as possible really and all these tweaks are really helping which is great! :)

The first thread will always be the highest as it has to do all the scheduling and any task that can't be split across multiple threads.

Ok Thanks Mudgel. It was through the roof yesterday until I started with the tweaks people have suggested. I Think after doing that Thread Scheduling Tweak its the best its going to be :)

Some things to keep in mind when looking at core usage:

    1. Sonar is not the only process running. Others will be using core 1 and maybe others.
    2. Core 1 will normally have higher usage than others. That has nothing to do with Sonar. It's to be expected.
    3. If you are using VSTs the way you configure them can affect core usage. For example, with EW Play it is best to use several instances rather than a single instance with instruments on separate channels.
