[Solved] Exporting Song from platinum

Hi Folks,
I load a song into Sonar platinum that had been previously started in sonar x3 everything went fine, when I completed  the mix in platinum i attempted to export the song but it takes about 10-15 minutes. It reads in the control bar "processing audio data" then after 15 it then reads "mixing down audio". question is why does it takes so long to export a song 3minutes and 54seconds long in platinum? Any solution is appreciated.

Regards

Glenville

Have you gots lots of audio snap, melodyne or vocal sync regions in the project?  If so bounce them to the traxks prior to export

I'm not in front of my DAW right now (I Wish) and I'm on X3, but I think I might be able to help.

What type of export are you choosing? The progress status you're describing sounds more like you're saving it as a bundle .cwb file which will take longer based on how large the project/how many tracks, etc. you have.

What is the reason you are exporting the song? If you are trying to take the entire project to another DAW to continue work on it, then that might be what you have to do. If you just want to play the song on another device, then you might want to mix down the tracks to one stereo track, and then just export/burn that one stereo track as a .wav or MP3.

I save projects in .cwb format when I'm backing them up because in case of a crash, I need everything back again. It does take a while and go through all those steps you listed, but worth it.

    Hello Razor,

    Thanks for the quick reply.
I was exporting the project as a wave file 24 bits to be imported in T racks a mastering program.

    Steps are as follows:

    1. Ctrl A to select all tracks
    2. Click file and click export audio
    3. name file and select location
    4. set export value 24bits wave file
    5. choose entire mix
    6. click export
It takes very long. I tried same thing in x3 and it goes straight to "mixing down audio" instead of" processing audio data" then "mixing down audio" as previously described in platinum.

+1 Bounce the tracks down to one stereo track and then just export that one track.

BTW--There is a reg hack that will allow you to click the final bounced track and then select your external mastering software from the Sonar Tools menu. I use it all the time.

Let me know if you're interested. It opens the third-party software with the audio already loaded. Pretty cool--not sure why CW removed that feature and made it a reg hack only deal, but they did.

    Hi Folks,

I had previously fix some timing issues on the drums with audiosnap and did not bounce to clips to render the clips so I just bounce all the drum tracks to clips and the export went smoothly.

Thanks again for all the assistance given to me.
