CAL Programming question:

I would like to duplicate a few key commands that I miss from Pro Tools.  I've made a feature request but that could take a long time to implement or maybe never get implemented.  So I thought about two other scenarios to get where I want to be.  That is, either a CAL program or a macro that I could assign to a hot key combination.

I haven't done any programming since waaaayyyy back in the day when I was programming in Quick Basic or while in college learning Cobol.  I was wondering if CAL programs would be able to do what I want to do.

The commands I miss are:
Trim to Start:  You place your cursor at a location within a clip, press the hot key combo and the clip is split at the cursor location and everything from the original start of the clip is deleted to the split point.

Trim to End: You place your cursor at a location within a clip, press the hot key combo and the clip is split at the cursor location and everything from the original end of the clip is deleted to the split point.

Fade From Start: You place your cursor at a location within a clip, press the hot key combo and a fade in is created from the beginning of the clip and ending at the cursor location.

Fade From End:  You place your cursor at a location within a clip, press the hot key combo and a fade out is created from the cursor position to the end of the clip.

If anyone has experience programming the Cakewalk CAL language and can tell me if this would be possible to do, I'd appreciate it just to know if I would be wasting my time trying.

Sorry to say, I don't think so.   CAL is all about the midi content exclusively.    But I'm no expert, just a fan of CAL.

Bummer.  Well maybe something like a scripting language would work - like Autohotkey.
