I am having 2 issues with Sonar Platinum
Just purchased Sonar Platinum, paid for full up front. Have not even worked with it for an hour. I have been using Cakewalk Products since the original Cakewalk through current Sonar Platinum. Issue 1: A project created in Sonar X3 Producer, in Sonar Platinum playback will not stop at the end of the project, it keeps on going until I stop it. The volume envelope trails are solid lines up to the end of the trax and then continue as dotted lines to infinity and beyond. This issue does not occur in Sonar X3-P or X2-P. I have tried a Save as with a new file name in Sonar Platinum, with the same results. Issue 2: After closing Sonar Platinum, I cannot re-open it without restarting my computer. This issue does not occur in any other of my Sonars, X3-P or X2-P. Any help would be great. In track view - oprions - Stop At Project End When you close Sonar, check to see if it is actually still running in the background (Ctrl-Alt-Del - Task Manager), if it is, kill it there then restart, better than rebooting until you get it sorted ?

Check the event viewer, or even jump to the project end, you may have an event way out in time.
The not closing may be a bad handshake to release the audio interface. Are the interface drivers current? I am not sure if McAfee could cause this, but that is a bit background intensive to have going while working in DAW mode.

"In track view - oprions - Stop At Project End" - can this be made Global?

It is a per-project setting. Like all per-project options, to set it for all future projects change the project templates used for project creation such as Normal.cwt.

Thanks for the responses. The Stop at project end was the solution for that issue. In X3-P, where the project was created it was already set to stop at end. I don't know why that 1 setting didn't follow with the project when opened in Sonar Platinum I've just never run across that before. Projects have always stopped at the end. Well I learn new things every day ! As for the other issue. I checked the task manager before I posted this thread, nothing is showing as running, no apps or connected processes. I had a similar issue with iTunes a couple years ago. Eventually it was resolved but still never found the cause. Who knows,,,,, UFOs or maybe Flying Monkeys ????

Sometimes I think McAfee is like a virus that you install willfully.

Remove all traces of that McAfee virus you have installed it stamps all over the OS with its own files, why they still get away with selling that I have know idea.

Something else that may or may not help with the second issue... Unplug/replug your audio interface. This will usually reset the audio drivers and may help in your case, saving you from having to reboot every time. Do you use Aplitube 3 by any chance? I've noticed Sonar crashing at exit and usually it is in the Amplitube 3 DLL.

Thanks again for the responses. Like I stated originally, I've been using Cakewalk products since the first version of Cakewalk. With that said, I've been using McAfee as long as well. I've never experienced any issues related back to my anti-virus software. At this time, I still have Sonar X2 Producer, Sonar X3 Producer and now Sonar Platinum all installed on this machine. X2 and X3 do not exhibit the issue, only Sonar Platinum???????????

I wanted to thank Scook for the answer, which was very helpful. I'm all set. I had forgotten which thread this post was in, and couldn't find it by the title...

I also wonder if the project that causes Sonar to not be able to get restarted might have some 32-bit plugins in it, as sometime BitBridge seems to have trouble freeing up resources after Sonar ends, particularly with the audio interface, for some reason. 32-bit plugins in a 64-bit Sonar can be quite unstable, and lots of folks have made deliberate choices to move to either completely 64-bit plugins, or as close to that as they can get, and testing the remaining 32-bit plugins to make sure if they ARE still used that they seem to work. A lot of the companies that made 32-bit plugins have created 64-bit versions you can download as a free update, you just have to go look to see if they have done that. Bob Bone

Oh, yes, thanks. My comment was an apparently too subtle attempt to encourage more descriptive post titles.
