It`s impossible to connect the device via Control Surfaces presets

Hi.
I can`t connect my devices (Sonar VS-100 and Edirol PCR-300) using Control Surfaces presets in Preferences. I tried all the options in the Add new Controller/Surfaces. While in Sonar VS similar action doesn`t cause any problems at the same laptop. Screenshots attached.

The problem is the same for both devices Sonar VS-100 and Edirol PCR-300 in Music Creator 7.

Welcome to the forum.

The forum won't allow you to post images/urls until you have a few more posts (to minimize spammers).

First, can you see your VS-100 under preferences-> MIDI->Devices?  You should see an entry for MIDI (VS-100) and CONTROL (VS-100).  If these are not showing up on this dialog then there is a problem with connectivity with your VS-100.

If the device is showing up as above and if the issue you are having is that the VS-100 is just not in the selection list for controller surfaces, then you may need to download some interface code from the Cakewalk site  (http://www.cakewalk.com/Support/Knowledge-Base/2007013039/V-Studio-100-Control-Surface-Installer-x64-and-x86) and possibly the drivers from the Roland site.  These were automatically installed in previous versions, but must be done manually after the Roland/Cakewalk divorce.

Hi, Glen. Thank you for answer.
  1. Even unregistered users see my screenshots in this post.
  2. The first screenshot (look up!) shows that both devices (Sonar VS-100 and Edirol PCR-300) are seen correctly as MIDI-devices.
  3. Both my devices connect as Controll Surfaces in all Sonar versions - from 8 to X3. There is a problem only with Music Creator 7!
  4. I have always the latest drivers for all my hardware.

I do not have MC, but I assume the logic is the same as in SONAR. From the pictures, while MC see CS plug-ins registered, it can not load them. So, the name is in "()" and In/Out are not assignable.

If you see them in SONARs, there still can be several reasons:
1) you can have 32/64bit difference, in case your sonars let say 64bit but MC not. DLLs used are different (and registered differently)
2) somehow MC use different set of dependency runtime libraries. But only CW can clarify on that. Still, suggested separate installer for VS-100 can help.

More for me than for the topic: can you try to install my plug-in (see the signature) and check either it can be loading into MC?

Interesting.  My browser won't display your pictures.  It seems that my firewall is refusing to connect me to their URL. EDIT: I can see now that they are on a .ru domain which I block because of cyber hacking problems.

It does work for me, so it probably is not an issue with MC7.

I would bet that AZSLOW3 is pretty close to on target.  You might want to verify that the VS-100 drivers and the control surface software are correct for your OS/MC7 version (32 or 64 bit).

azslow3, thanks!

After your plugin installation Sonar VS-100 works as Control Surfaces in Music Creator 7 and Sonar X2, but stopped working in Sonar VS. But I'm not worried about it because I just wanted to refuse using Sonar VS.

So we can say that the problem is solved.
