Sonar not remembering audio outputs??

I recently added a second Prism “Orpheus” firewire audio interface to my recording setup, giving me 20 physical outputs into my console for mixing OTB. Every time I open a saved project, Sonar fails to remember the output routing for all tracks and busses. Doesn’t matter if the project is a single audio track or a complex one utilizing all outputs…the results are the same. Getting very frustrated having to remember (and then reset) all output routings, hoping someone may be able to advise me on a fix.

Thanks,
-Bob G.

When you say a second Prism, are you attempting to run more than one, and also using ASIO?

If so, this will not work and you'll get the symptoms you describe.

    Switch driver mode to WDM

ASIO will only support one interface at a time

Sorry I don't have any advice, but I have been plagued with this in the past.  I had to stop using the Fantom VS synth built into the VS-700 because of this.  More recently, I had bad issues with this because of EZDrummer 2 (which seem to be resolved since EZD2's most recent update).

Sonar must have some method of handling outputs that is different from other DAWs and therefore problematic with certain products.

Yes, I am running two Orpheus under ASIO, linked via firewire so they show up as one interface in Sonar. They work perfectly this way, no performance issues at all. All inputs and outputs show up and are accessible from inside Sonar. Only, when I reopen a saved project, all outputs default to one of the units. I then have to reassign all the physical outputs from memory, once I do that the project plays back flawlessly. Hope this helps discribe my dilemma a little better as I can't work this way much longer...takes way too long to reset an entire project...every time.

That is not necessarily true, if the Audio interface/Sound card and or drivers support multiple interfaces/cards/devices, then away you go, ASIO  and all. Had multiple M-Audio devices for years, 4 x Delta 1010's/ 44's etc . . .
