Where's the Melodyne data?

Hey all,
I spent way too many hours fixing and editing some really bad vocals with Melodyne...now that I have installed Platinum, when I open the file, Melodyne is still on the track as the plugin, but the Melodyne data is no longer displaying...can anyone help with this? If I have to redo this whole process, this would really be BAD...and just FYI...this is the issue with all of the files I have the Melodyne plugin, but this one file was just way too much work to be lost.

I really hope someone has a solution for this...

Out of curiosity, has anyone else had this happen?

Thanks in advance everyone :-)

Just to clarify, are you using Melodyne Essential that comes with Sonar, or do you have Melodyne Editor ?
If you're able to open the Melodyne Region FX, then double click on the Melodyne scroll bars to zoom it back to fill the full window, or is there  just nothing there at all ?

I had Melodyne installed with Sonar X3, and when I did the upgrade to Platinum, never had this issue.
Have you done a reset and rescan of all your plugins after you upgraded ?

I didn't think that was necessary since the plugins all show up...actually, my plugins went from 150 to 165 after the install...the Melodyne data is the only thing that seems to be missing.

Melodyne settings has a value for where the data files are kept.  Check your previous setup to see where that is.  Then make sure your new version is pointing to the same directory.

Thanks, I'll check that...not sure exactly how to, but at least now I have a solid lead on fixing the issue.

Did you do the vocal fixing in X3? Do you still have X3? What happens if you open the project back in the original version of Sonar? If that's still an option for you, you could render the region FX in the old version and import the track(s) into Platinum.

BTW, I just looked in "C:\Users\<your username>\Documents\Celemony\Separations" and there was nothing there, even though I have used Melodyne. Hope you have better luck.

. . . this is just the Melodyne audio cache
My understanding is that with ARA and Sonar, the Melodyne data gets saved within the Cakewalk project file.
So, it should get recreated into the cache when opening a project.

Okay, Larry, a bit ironic...I came to back to reply right after I just ended up doing what you suggested :-)
...and for noynekker, it appears that the path for the file is identical in X3 and Platinum, but Platinum is not finding or loading...but there was something a bit strange as well...I opened the file in X3 where everything is working fine...I thought I'd try to save the FX chain and then load that into Platinum...seems there's no "Load FX Chain Preset" in the track right click menu...so I loaded the FX chain present from ProChannel...and there was still not data in Melodyne.

Quite a mystery...but nevertheless, I exported the rendered track from X3 (as I mentioned above) and even though it was the long way around the barn, I'm good. Thank you for your time!

Open the Melodyne plugin on the track you're dealing with, and click "Settings" in the action bar.  There's a small drop-down menu there which should list "File Manager" as the first option. Click that to see where the plugin is expecting to find its data.  There is also a cache setting if you open the Melodyne editor in stand-alone mode.  Those two don't have to be the same.  Since you can still see the data in X3, the cache must still be safe.  Check that File Manager setting for both X3 and 2015 to ensure they match.  Hopefully, this will solve the puzzle.  Good luck!

I would definitely file a problem report for this.  I would guess that most people use melodyne as a region fx because it's easier to work with.  Personally, I wouldn't use the plugins and having them in an fx chain in the prochannel might be one of those weird issues that never got tested.

I have a workaround for you if you'd like...
in melodyne's vst plugin window in X3, click on the vst2 or vst3 dropdown button at the top of the plugin window and click save preset.  I'd save it to your project directory, giving it a name that's meaningful.  Then, when you open the project in platinum, open melodyne and click the same button and select load preset.  select the .fxp or .vstpreset file you saved in X3 and all your edits should transfer into Platinum.

Let me know if this works out for you.
