Cleaning up an Old Track

Hi I bought a ROLAND DUO CAPTURE, It came with sonar x1 se SOFTWARE.

I got a track that was recorded long time in WAV.

Is it possible clean up the hissing with the software or does this not work with tracks not done with the software ?

    Ah let me rephrase this.

I got Sonar X1 SE Software.

I have an old track recording in wav.

Is it possible clean up all the hissing and background stuff, or Does this only with tracks recorded with Sonar ? If it can, how on earth do I work this ? Thanks for your time in advance.

It is possible to clean up hissing and background noise from a pre-recorded WAV file, but I don't think SONAR X1 SE comes with the best tools for the job.

It might have a gate and EQ built-in which would get you some of the way there.

Personally I use Adobe Audition 2 which has a great noise reducer.

IIRC the free Audacity audio editor has some decent tools for the job as well.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.

I do see a plug in listed for Noise gate etc, How do you even use this software ? It did not really come with a book, it was just free with the device I got.

The hiss is not extreme so SONAR just may do the the trick completely
