London Sessions BFD2 original kits released
Thought Larry would have posted this by now but fxpansion have today released London Sessions, the original BFD2 stock kits are now available in BFD3's new BFDLAC lossless format as well as .WAV format and also a version for BFD Eco which is availiabe at 50% off (Eco owners only) Here's some details http://www.fxpansion.com/index.php?page=235&tab=544 Steve

I have both Eco and BFD2. According to the site, I'd be entitled to 50% off because of Eco.
Gonna check it out and see if it's worth it.
I'm also wondering if there's any point keeping my Superior Drummer 2 & EZ Drummer sets and libraries.

So, I have BFD2 and BFD3. I can use the existing BFD2 kits in BFD3. What is the advantage in this pack to me apart form saving a little disk space with the compression?
Is my assumption correct that this is mainly aimed at BFD3 owners that never had BFD2?

Why of course there is, there is covienienve, the next time you reinstall, you don't have to go through the whole BFD2 install (even though you could just suck the kits from the discs), and then of course there is 'completeness' :)
Just like Eldorado, even though I owned the original BFD, I still got that, for me no difference here, been a BFD'er from the start, it's simply the best, nothing else comes close, I own all the big players, and a lot of the little ones, there is no comparison.
BFD is king, I just love it, and I guess I am a bit of a collector. I guess for most there would be know pressing reason to get this if they already owned BFD2, but hey . . .
Oh, another reason, supporting a great company so they can continue to make top shelf products ? No?

Thing is if you install the BFD3 version of the London Sessions BFD2 wont recognise them anyway. Since I'm not short on space I have two BFD2 kit folders one of which is converted to the BFDLAC format for BFD3 and the other is the original so I can still load BFD2 if and when I feel the need. I own all the big players, and a lot of the little ones, there is no comparison. Agreed unanimously  BFD is king, I just love it, and I guess I am a bit of a collector. Agreed unanimously I would love to support them more financially but can't afford to buy stuff I don't need so I do all my supporting by helping people on their forum and this one by trying to sell it's merits to the toontrack and XLN die-hards as well as being a beta tester. Also, with regards to the other reason some have given for buying the new London Sessions being that it's a third of the size, whilst it may seem a good one they should know that fxpansion will be releasing a utility that will convert those huge wave libraries into the new BFDLAC format so if they're patient they won't have to. The utility is working flawlessly here by the way and took just a few minutes to turn the 55GB BFD2 folder into 22GB. Steve

Are you saying you have all three? BFD Eco, BFD2 & BFD? 50% off is a great deal but if you have BFD3 already and BFD2 I'm not sure what you would gain from getting this pack. If you don't have BFD3 then I would suggest getting it ASAP as today is the last day of the sale although I think it's probably the same cost as the upgrade as it's only meant for new customers. I think the 50% off is for the BFD Eco version which won't have all the extra channels and velocity layers that you would get with the BFD3 version but that's your call. As for getting rid of your toontrack stuff? Again your call but if you have plenty of space you might want to keep them just for old times sake and of course if they are still being used in lots of older projects they are worth keeping until you have swapped them for something better. I guess though if you can sell them you could spend the money on some of the many BFD (& 3rd party) expansion kits?  Steve

Yeah I keep all my BFD stuff on its own drive as well, and do similar to you, but now next time install from scratch, new computer/drive or whatever, I want bother installing BFD2, I have images of everything, but every couple of years I install fresh leaving out stuff I don't need or use anymore, time consuming compared to reinstating an image, but just one of my OCD's
Most of my other reply was a bit 'tongue in cheek' sort of. Not my opinion of BFD though :)

@Steve - I only have Eco & BFD2, but I also have Greatest Hits Volume 1 to go with it.
I think your right about it only being for Eco, and about not having the channels and velocity layers, etc.
I'm kind of holding out on BFD 3.
I'm impressed with all of it - except the main GUI. It seems a little too cartoonish to me.
So I thought I'd just wait & see until or unless I get a better deal on it down the line.
I think I'll hang onto my other Toontrack ones after all.
They really are quite good.
