Spacey
Hi folks, Newbie here posting a track for your pleasure (or otherwise). Hit it hard with the comments. I'm quite new to all this, and I'm over 60, so I need to learn fast.

You have to do a certain amount of posts before it will allow you to have a live link. I think that's what is happening. You can make that number quickly by commenting on some of the music up here.

As Warren notes you need at least 5 post to insert a link, all part of the spam control mechanism. Make a few comments on other post in the songs forum and you will hit that figure and may also find you get more response to your own in return. As for being the age you are I would not worry there are several here in the same position.

One thing I've noticed is there are a lot of people posting that don't respond to other people's posts. It's fine but I wouldn't wonder why your post doesn't get many replies, if you are one who doesn't join in and listen or comment on other people's efforts. I AM NOT trying to be a forum cop (Robbie used to be adamant on that) I'm just giving a bit of unsolicited advice. Alan, I am not referring to you but to anyone that the shoe fits. I'm still waiting to hear your tune!

I just had this problem in my first post as well. Just paste the link without the http:// in front. Easy to copy/paste it into a browser. :)

Yeah. that hadn't escaped my notice either... And it is disappointing. I noticed even more, while spending literally hours listening to other peeps songs here, and you get to know who the regular "listeners" are, and who are only bothered about their own posts, even regularly bumping them back to the top, more than once, when it goes missing off the first page.

Yeah, just listened to Aliens In The Rain, which sounded okay to me. I'm sure there are plenty of things you could do to improve this, but I'd be happy as it is. If I was forced to criticise one thing, it would be the rain sample at the beginning, which sounds more like a sample taken from a bathroom, probably because I expect rain to sound like it is all around me, whereas this sounds like it is sitting directly in front of me. Minor, minor crit, and not really worth a mention... As I browsed the rest of your page, starting from the top, I spotted a track called Do That You Shouldn't, and I immediately thought of You Shouldn't Do That, by Hawkwind... I just had to listen to that track LOL. It's been a while since I bothered to listen to Hawkwind but I was a big fan of their stuff from In Search Of Space to Choose Your Masques. I didn't get onto them though until around '78 and so their first "new" album to me was PXR5. cheers andy

Hi, good to finally get the link. Nice work. I'm not a fan of this genre, so know nothing useful about it. To me it could do with a bit more going on, I was waiting for something a lot of the way. Well recorded, nicely balanced sound. Imaginative.

I really like the groove that you're using for this. It sounds like it'd be fun to jam with, and you also have them well placed in the mix. The other instruments could come up a bit to be equal to the drums, and that would help balance this out. As Andy said, the rain sample could be wider in the mix (use two separate samples panned wide). And, though I love the sound of that analog synth, it gets a little long in the tooth at some point. Perhaps bring it in and out at certain points? Otherwise, this is a good song that could be stellar with a few tweaks, and is certainly worth the effort.
