    HEY WOOKIE!

i like the melodies and ideas,
    but the drum track......

i hear an african or morrocan 'drone' beat here,
no 'ones' and 'fours', but a churning,
mellow but driving rhythm, using ANYTHING except a rock drum kit.

i don't know if you have anything in your bag of furry tricks,
    maybe some loops,
    something,
but if you were to put in a nice polyrhythmic syncopated kind of beat,
and add some ambient noise (maybe wookie hollers), i think that would dial this in.

I'm with batsbrew on the hit on four, I feel like that beat puts the anticipation in an odd place. Nice mix and sounds, I can't think of what exactly it reminds me of but I know it's something.....

Very furry, furball.  The drums have a nice, solid sound but I would like to hear something like Rob (Batsbreath) is talking about, just for fun  Like programming drums is fun!.   This tune has some nice movement to it.  You know what I was hearing while listening (in my little mind) was a nice choral part.  There is a drone underneath that kinda sounds like choral but is one of your synths.  Ha, I just rolled of the chair.  I am laughing at myself giving ideas that I can't even explain.  Well, it's nice, John.  Now lick your paws and get back to work.

Thanks Gonzo, I hear you I just wanted to play around with Superior Drums and an odd time signature.

Thanks David for giving my exercise in 7/4 time a listen as I say was just playing perhaps I need to revist with that poly rhythm idea of Bat's.

Sorry Warren did not mean for you to fall out the chair will put this on the rethink pile.  I have some odd hand percussion knocking about the studio and I did add the Djembe, Cajon and Bongo's to my AD2 selection so I may just go have a play.

Thanks for the listen and comment all of you, appreciated.

What I like most about this style is the optimism that comes out of it. The progression change adds some "struggle" but the piece ends on a positive note. It reminds me of Owl City. With or without lyrics it could also be a children's song or an accompaniment to a film segment. Nice.

Well that was 4 min of fun. A good start, nice and clean, uplifting, happy go lucky. I also felt it needed to have some other developing interests - tho I have a bad habit of over working a piece. Perhaps a build up, then back to simple sort of thing?

Definitely furry, in a good way of course - its got your paw marks

Those melodic rhythms are awesome, the drums and all sounds great, and the mix is very nicely done.

The drums don't conform to be what is expected for this style of music, and that's what makes this composition different. Though a change of 'lead synth sound' and 'beat' here and there would transform the arrangements from galaxy class explorer to all out battle against the dark side.

Anybody who writes something in 7 should be congratulated and thanked - I listened twice and liked it better the more I heard it. It's upbeat and futuristic. I too wanted development or an arc of simple/complex/simple or something, but it's fun as it stands. Very inventive, furball!

I agree with Lynn - this really gets going around the 2.30 mark and that nice subtle warm hanging pad that pops in and out does it's thing

Cool, great sounds cleverly weaving in/out. Definitely improved

I'm sure this composition would be ideal for music placement in science fiction movies, oh you know i.e. Star Wars.

Btw, does your fur ever get caught between the piano keys? I'm amazed how smooth your performances are. Way to go Wookiee.

So... which galaxy did you have in mind when you did this?   Just curious.

As someone who likes odd meters, naturally I liked it (preferred the 2nd version).   It's got that "space" sound, whatever that means in synth terms, and it works.   Really interesting piece, Mr. W.    I liked the synth "trumpets" at around the 3:00 mark.  Nice use of delay.

Thanks Steve, probably one far far far far away .

Tom and Bat said something and I experimented with some different rhythm bits also hunted around for another voice, stumbled across the Solo Trumpet voice on the Korg MS 20 gave it a few tweaks, one has to tweak it is what knobs are for, added a little bit of the VKFX PC delay in the PC and that's what I ended up with.

Thanks again for taking the time to have a listen and leave a comment appreciated.
