Tracy Chapman on Letterman
Anyone see this? Wow, just wow! What a voice. She was born to sing.

Been a while since I heard Tracy. I forgot all about her. Thanks for that.

Tracy Chapman is very talented, and I like her voice a lot, but I have to say that I much prefer Ben E. King's version.

She impressed me as being one of the potential great songwriters of my lifetime, but the promise of "Fast Cars' never seems to have been fulfilled. Is this her life now, another singer doing cover songs?

I also think she's more of a vocal stylist than a great "singer". Love her work though, thanks for the link.

She's unique. Great emotional expression in a stark, minimalist arrangement. I kept waiting for the big note that never came............................

I went back and listened to the track "Fast Cars," I haven't heard it for so many years. It's a great sounding production and a fantastic pop song.
