another example of the stupidity of assuming default paths

another example of the stupidity of assuming default paths

I understand the trend is away from assuming users have any clue.

But I am Old and I want to have control of what happens on MY devices.

Getting AD installed was a major chore because the developers assumed, in their youthful wisdom, that the user would NEVER desire to interfere with what they have deemed rational.

They changed their installer to accommodate me to put stuff where I wanted. That they did not assume it was their responsibility to cr'ate the 64 bit directory made install take longer.

So:::::::
Assuming the CW dudes were following recommended practice of NEVER putting samples on the the OS drive, I stupidly installed S-15 to the "default" folders assuming the "default" folders were those I had selected for j 6, 7, 8.5.3, x1, x2, x3.

But NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

So here is another result of these erroneous, recommended, and stubborn, assumptions.

This great FREE forum software puts the image no where near I attempt to put it.

(My continued issues moving projects from 8.5 to any of the X versions is no doubt influencing my current state of mind.)

What has the error message got to do with samples?
Either move the VST or add another VST file path in Sonar preferences. The XLN installer also does a great job in moving files around if you change the paths.

The XLN installer installs everything where you want it you may have missed the settings within it.

Or were you expecting a third party plugin and a DAW to communicate with each other telepathically?

    Thank you for your response.

Why should I have had to move anything?

And if so, from where to where so the CW S-15 installer will behave consistently?

The XLN installer was not way happy in the beginning.

And now the CW S-15 installer refuses to honor the previously defaulted paths.

So now what do I do about this error?

I installed AD 2 and was able to place things exactly where I wanted. It's a great installer because if you decide later to move things around you can use the installer to move either the VSTs and or the libraries.

hmmm...win 8.1...not sure about this being a issue as of yet with many or even a few...since I installed Sonar on win 7 and x2 sonar not being installed as admin properly if at all on first runs...I had odd issues with files being not where they should be, or completely vanish....and odd files showing up all over the place....Not saying this is your problem...but, if I am finding files all over the place out side of folders they should be in, or are on a different subtree or above....What could be wrong with win 8.1 and 7 or made to go corrupt if....something is causing file mismanagement when it is suppose to put things where you tell them to go...and you let that occur feeling confident it is right....is it...So in likeness I have mysteries of liken spirit in another way...not like...but it brings me to wonder.

I am now...reinstalling win 8.1....and look even with a clean wipe and delete of MSB and  primary drive , format before and after, and installing from dvd win 8.1...I have desktop ini files, and in IE explorer...I have book marks of old in the bookmarks...and they work....So what is causing issues here is odd....Perhaps Icloud put those things in for me....I did not ask, and I did not transfer files when I was installing....

    Yah control....who has it...really

It looked like they gave the path info to correct the mismatch between things for AD-2 - are you squared away now?

I have updated AD using the XLN installer.

    Not sure of the consequences.

The path mismatch is the result of CCC not respecting the paths of previously installed software.

I will continue to insert plugs from the folders I have designated, not from buried, and often hidden folders.

    But don't get me started.
