What is intended snap behavior in X3 for the staff view

Hi all,
I realize a lot of people have had trouble with snap behavior in the staff view with various incarnations of Sonar.  I'm still on X3 and am starting to get used to using the staff view.  I'm wondering, what is the intended snap behavior if things are working correctly?  Right now, it seems that the specified note duration also sets snap value as well.  The snap to grid settings are ignored.  Are the snap to grid settings actually supposed to have an effect in the staff view?  I do get the behavior that after a shorter note duration is chosen, the snap sticks at the smaller value even when longer notes are selected.  Jerry Gerber's tip to select a dotted whole note to get the snap settings to reset does work for me.  Is this the behavior everyone sees and should be expected, or is the staff view kind of hit or miss depending on your system?  If this is a bug, is there a way to get the snap to grid settings to be honored in the staff view?

Unfortunately for now, the staff view is what it is.  If that's the way it works for you then that's how you should expect it to work.

I know it's not much of an answer, but there's been little to no work done on the staff view for a long time and we keep hoping for a major re-work.  But it would take a major re-work, not just a few bug fixes, to bring it up to modern standards.
