PRV scale snap: possible to designate different target scales within 1 modulating track?
Hi everyone, I have a 12 bar chord prgression which modulates to different keys a few times. Let's say that
-- Bars 1-4 are in the key of C key,
-- Bars 5-8 are in E, and
-- Bars 9-12 are in Em.
I want to add a melody on top using the PRV's scale snap feature. Thing is, as far as I can tell, for that to work, you can only designate one "target" scale per track. If that's true, then the only way I can think of is to make three copies of the progression track (keeping the original intact as an "archive" in case I mess up later), mute this original track, and then
--in the first copy, delete everything but Bars 1-4, and designate the target key as C
--in the second copy, delete everything but Bars 5-8 (not deleting the hole), and designate the target key as E
--in the third copy, delete everything but Bars 9-12 (not deleting the hole), and designate the target key as Em
This could get clunky to work with, not only because of having to take all these steps, but also because when I write the melody in PRV, I would have to write it across the three different tracks if I wish to use scale snap. (This example is actually simplified; I want to use this with a jazz (Coltrane) progression which modulates much more often than three times).
Is there any way to keep the original progression in one track, and within this track, designate a different scale snap target key in each region?
I'd be grateful for any advice.
