Carl - I moved your thread to the Music Creator forum since this is the more appropriate place to discuss issues with MC7.

I'm afraid, however, we'll need more info.  write down exactly what the dialog box says when it pops up before you click OK (and if there's another dialog box after that, tell us what that one says as well).  we will need to know what it's telling you before we can really help.

Sorry - I just realized I may have been trigger happy - you said ALSO in MC7, so maybe you meant in Sonar as well.  if so, which version of sonar are you running?  I'll move it back if we can't help you here.

Is it a project that you started somewhere else or was sent to you?

You get notices of "missing plugins" when you open projects that were created on a different computer and the person had different plugs from the ones you have.   It's generally only a small bother.... but can be a pain if it's a synth. then you have to go in and install your synths to take the place of the missing ones.

With plugs, simply go to the project and remove the ones you do not have and save the project.

again, sorry about that, but let's see if we can help in here and if not, I'll move you back!

Herb's questions are good, too, and it also applies if you're moving from sonar to MC IF you VST scanner in each program doesn't find the plugins from the other program.  it should unless you did a custom install, tho.

FWIW, the problem should happen in both SONAR and MC7 assuming both running the same bitness. Both products use the same (as in identical) plug-in scanner. There is one Cakewalk VST scanner for 32bit and one for 64bit DAWs.

ok, i wrote down the info on the dialouge box that opens. it's 2 boxes, but for the sake redundantcy i'll write the info down once . but the problem is 2 plug ins. the box reads: the following plugin in clsid could not be matched with an entry in the vst plugin list. please identify the plugin from thre nearest matches listedbelow.
    original name boost 11 1 id 1129800300
    original clsid 141ac902-4357-626c-426f-6f737431315fnew path c:/program files/cakewalk/shared

the other plugin is px 64 percussion strip.  i hope this helps.

There are issues with Boost11 and PX64 when running SONAR Platinum and MC7. There is a discussion about Boost11 here http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/3194288

I am not a fan of the recommended solution because of the side effect noted in msg #5 of that thread. Not sure the CW provided solution addresses this issue.

A little more information about the project may be helpful. Maybe I can recreate the error.
Where did the project originate MC7 or Platinum?
If MC7, is the mixstrip used?

Re: plugin question 2015/05/01 12:36:35 (permalink)
Sure, but is should not be necessary. I was hoping to create a formula which could be sent to Cakewalk support so they could handle the clash rather than throw up their standard missing plug-in error. I would guess the project in SONAR works without error in SONAR and the MC7 project works OK in MC7. Is this the case?

Just a little background, Boost11 and PX64 are VST plug-ins bundled with SONAR. They have been around some time. Cakewalk has re-purposed these plug-ins in MC7 to be part of the Mixstrip. Because of this, the plug-ins while used by each DAW may not be interchangeable. With the limited testing I have done to familiarize myself with MC7, I have yet to open an MC7 project in SONAR and vice versa. I would expect some complaints from MC7 when opening SONAR projects, if only because all of the features in SONAR are not present in MC7. The full versions of Boost11 and PX64 are not recognized by MC7 hence the thread linked in msg #9.

I just created a project in MC7 w/ two audio tracks. Added Mixstrip effects to both tracks. Saved and opened the project in SONAR without error. I see the Mixstrip effects appear as FX Chain effects in SONAR. Then I modified the project in SONAR saved and re-opened in MC7 without error. I have a few ProChannel modules which are added by default in SONAR, these now appear in the project in MC7. While I would expect them to all to fail in MC7, the Console Emulator still works. The Tape Sim does not. The PC EQ seems to switch smoothly between SONAR and MC7.

In short, the project apears to move between both products without throwing error messages.

Was either product purchased from Steam?

Are both SONAR and MC7 patched up to date?
Check the bottom of the About screens.
    SONAR should show  21.03.00 build 20 x64
    MC7 should show 21.00.01 build 33 x64

Since you have Platinum, you are entitled to telephone support. I would recommend calling Cakewalk tech support. What you are experiencing is unusual. I cannot replicate it.

Something which may fix the problem is a VST reset. This rebuilds the plug-in inventory used for both programs. Here are instructions for X3 http://www.cakewalk.com/Support/Knowledge-Base/2007013315/SONAR-X3-Full-VST-Rescan-Recommended-for-Upgraders. The Platinum process is the same.

If it were my problem, I would call Cakewalk, emailing support would be my second choice. Deleting and reinstalling are always options. To me deleting projects fixes nothing. The only reason I have MC7 installed is to help people here. Normally I would only install SONAR Platinum.
