[Answered] Does SONAR X1 LE count toward the upgrade for SONAR Artist?

Frustrating morning... friend is stepping into the DAW world and eyeing the PreSonus AudioBox Studio. I simply told him their is nothing bad with either that interface or the DAW, but I do not know Studio One. Went searching and the Focusrite 2i2 Studio comes with Cubase LE.
 
Start searching for an "upgrade path" option, and I guess SONAR LE is only bundled with hardware now.
 
Any chance of unseating Cubase LE here???
 
[He hasn't purchased yet and is planning to visit... if I get him in this room he will forget all about Studio One ]
 
Edit: I guess the answer to this one is "No," but I did remember I had bought my A-300 PRO that came with SONAR X1 LE (never even opened it since I was on X3 already). Couple quick questions:
  1. Can I give this to my friend?
  2. Does this qualify for the "I own any other SONAR" for an upgrade to SONAR Artist?

    Yes. But just read the EUlA to be sure. My understanding is that if it's not yet registered he can register it as a product when opening a Cakewalk account.
    I found this link which indicates it does qualify for upgrade pricing.

    Thanks Mike. The only weird thing about this is that I do not see an "obvious" S/N included. It comes with a simple one-sheet of paper with a "bar code" number at the top (doesn't seem like that is it though). It may be baked into the software installer itself, but is just a disk and sheet of paper.

    Might be time to contact customer support and ask them how to use a Sonar LE version to upgrade to Artist.

    There should be a registration number. So contact support and tell them you didn't get one. Get your mate to send it. He can say he got the disc with the hardware.
