[Solved] Cakewalk Plugin Manager
Ever since I have upgraded to Sonar Platinum I have been unable to get the Cakewalk Plugin Manager to work. When I click on the option in the menu the program will run, which I can see from using the Task Manager, but it will not display where it can be used. It will also run directly from the folder but you cannot use it as some of the functions are not highlighted. I tried deleting all of my Sonar products and reinstalling just Platinum. That did not change anything. I also reinstalled Sonar Producer X3 and it did work initially but has since then not worked again. It was never a problem with previous versions of Sonar X and I have them all! If anyone has a solution I would appreciate it. Thanks!

Mine is working, scanning and displaying properly, Platinum on Win 7 x64. Have you tried to set prefs to scan on startup and see if they scan through visually at the bottom of the screen? Maybe even rescan fails etc just to be sure. I say that because I've seen them hang up in the past. I may be misunderstanding what you mean by "directly from the folder".... if you mean the preferences, because I didn't see an exe specifically for the manager ... plus I'm super tired. lol I also assume you meant that after reinstalling x3, it worked momentarily then stopped. I'm not sure if the manager can open inside or under, like in multidock etc and be hidden, which sounds like a possibility if so. I have X2, X3, and Plat installed. Apologies if I misunderstood something, like I say I'm wore out today.. lol Tell us more about your system, that may help others with an answer as well.

I gather you mean that you tried to run it by navigating to the folder where the Plugin Manger.exe file is located. Usually C:/Program Files/Cakewalk/Shared Utilities Have you checked the Task Manager and checked under Processes whether vstscan.exe is still running and terminate it. Because the plugin manager can run on its own, perhaps there is a plugin causing the scanner to freeze when it's encountered. Sometimes the scanner window can pop behind the Sonar main window and is no longer seen. You can also try cycling the windows by holding the windows key while pressing TAB. Or hold Alt while pressing TAB.

Thanks for replying. I checked the Task Manager and VSTSCAN is not running there but Cakewalk Plugin Manager is. The VSTSCAN seems to be running correctly as it show the number of VST's available and the screens goes away like it should. Yes, I am clicking on the Cakewalk Plugin Manager directly from the Shared Plugin folder and it will run but it is not completely functional. I tried to cycle the windows and the Plugin Manager is just not there. It did work previously with all of the Sonar versions that I own. Only now with Sonar Platinum will it not work. As I mentioned I tried uninstalling everything and reinstalling. Only after I reinstalled Sonar X3 did it work and not for long! Strange but true. Anymore ideas?

That is strange but still sounds like a plugin hanging it up.... maybe in an opening project or somewhere along the load process. I say that only because of it running momentarily in X3. I'd go through and add the plugins one by one starting with any new ones you may have added since you can't do it in the manager ... although it should give an error etc. I've had them hang in X3, it was a duplicate and didn't error until about the third or fourth test .. no problems in Plat.

I'd put money on that being the answer.

If you installed X3 after Platinum perhaps you've got all the Shared a Utilities from Sonar X3. Maybe just a reinstall of Platinum without any uninstallation will make it all work again. That is, just run the Platinum installer again.

After the latest fixes in Sonar Platinum my Plugin Manager now works! Yeah! That was the only thing that I did was just install whatever was available in the Command Center.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't the fixes, just the act of "re" installing.. Glad to hear it's all good now.
