[Solved] X2 sees my interfaces but I've completely lost audio in or out!
I've run out of ideas short of a clean install... any thoughts are appreciated! At some point, audio stopped working. Sonar sees my interfaces but won't pass audio in either direction. Both X1 and X2 are installed and act the same way. I only use basic features and a 'normal' template. I normally keep Windows sounds off of these interfaces. No other software is running. - During audio recording, X2 shows no activity. - Playback of an existing track is silent and shows no levels. - Interfaces are Edirol FA-66 and Roland Quad-Capture (Only one is connected at a time) - I can select them in Preferences. Mfg. drivers are installed. - Input, Output, Timing master, ASIO, levels, mixer routing, settings all look OK. - If I enable Windows audio, I can record and play through these interfaces. System: Sonar X1/X2, i7-CPU 12Gig-RAM, Windows 7/64. Me: Cakewalk dabbler since CW 2.0 for DOS. Thanks!!! Pat

Hi Pat, Are you connecting both of your ASIO devices at the same time? If so, you cannot do this. Use just one or the other. cheers andy

Andy, They were never connected at the same time. The QC replaced the FA66, but the problem appeared before that. I had toyed with the idea of multiple interfaces, so thanks for setting me straight there! Kind Regards, Pat

Okay Pat, I also use a QUAD-CAPTURE, with X2, so I'm wondering if there is something I can do to help... At least while I am still online...

Thanks Andy, for the kind offer but I've got to get ready for work. The only thing I haven't looked at are Sonar's audio configuration files.. Failing that I'll probably move on to reloading both Windows and Sonar. What a joy that won't be! (I purchased X3 but haven't installed it yet.)

I've had this happen many times in both X3/Plt. I get the audio back by playing around with the buffer in Q-C Driver Settings...moving it higher/lower a step depending upon where it sits will rectify the mysterious R-C's 'where the hell has the audio gone' syndrome. I have nothing checked in the ASIO settings and driver is currently at 8 which seems to be a fair balance between latency and sound actually working. But the drivers continue to be occasionally dropped from Sonar and Roland aren't going to the bother of updating their very old drivers and seeking support doesn't change anything...work-arounds. Keeping an eye out from something better; of course others will attest to its stability I'm sure:-)

Thanks again to you both- But Fabio, you pointed me in the right direction! In the QC driver I tried everything. Still no sound, until I un-checked 'Low Latency Mode'. I don't remember ever using anything but defaults here, but who cares as long as it's working! You saved me from hours of software reinstallation!!! Thank You so much!!! Pat
