OK, I'll revise my "devil" statement.

I just don't like the format or the constant reminders of all the friends requests (or Do You Know?) and pokes etc.

I know who I want to contact and if I don't remember or know where someone from my past is, it's probably for a perfectly good reason.

And I hail all of you who use it and love it.

My purpose for posting here was to "inform" those few who I was "attached to" that my disappearance from FB was not personal to them.

What kind of doughnut?

BUNUELOS!

(You have to read Luis Bunuel's Autobiography to get this, but bunuelos are a kind of donut in some part/s of Spain.

Music is not about notes and chords! My poem is not about the computer or monitor or letters! It's about how I was able to translate it from my insides!

I'm with sharke to some extent.

I don't see anything inherently bad with Facebook, it's the same as any platform, it's the people who use it that make it 'good' or 'bad'.

I've got back in touch with a few guys I was at school with, and some who I played cricket with many years ago. There are a few political, sports, photography and music groups I've joined, some of which are really interesting places to drop into once in a while.

I can't for the life of me understand the appeal of Twitter though. Or exactly how it works for that matter. I suppose if it takes a lot of the "I just ate a doughnut" type status updates away from Facebook that's fine with me.

That's one of the most tedious aspects of FB; there are people who live there full time and are committed to the task of photographically documenting all the trivial details of their lives, including a couple of massively obese guys who are always getting their picture taken with a mound of chow (oysters or crawfish) in front of them. Kind of obscene.

Silence is so accurate

Twitter kills me. Way too much effort to keep track of a conversation thread. Obviously designed by nerds.

That's why I stuck my head around the door once, said something, and backed out.

FB is OK, and there are clouds of old HS friends (a couple I even like!), local artists  (invites help me get off the couch).  And for every friend sharing political/religious views I don't share (which is just about all of 'em) I post gear pics and wax romantic about it.  Or pictures of the ranch.  Last year cleaned out the barn and made a major hillock of pure BS.

It is a tool.  Now, who is up for a cute kitten video?

there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head.

I go on FB to see what stuff my friends and family want me to see. They're always asking me, "Hey, did you see my post?" No, I didn't. I just don't remember to look at FB unless someone asks me to do it. FB is not interesting to me because it is infested with people.

Social media assumes that we actually want to socialize with each other. I understand that may work for the vast majority of the world. I prefer Isolationist Media.
