I need a reminder on how to copy MIDI to my desktop

I have Sonar X3, and I have a project with 10 MIDI tracks.
I'd like to get just one of the tracks copied to a .mid file, not all 10.

I can't seem to remember how to do that. Last year I asked about it here on the forum, and someone
said to drag/drop the midi track directly to my desktop, but when I did that, there
was no file on the desktop.

If I highlight just one of the tracks (give it focus) and then do a file/save as, I still end up with all 10 tracks included.

How can I get a .mid with just one of the tracks? I'd be grateful for any help.

Just select the track and drag it to Sonar's browser. That's the quickest way. Make sure to setup the browser window where you want the file to go. It works just like Windows Explorer
I also tried dragging it to the desktop and its not working. I recently read about the issue but cant remember any more details. I'll follow up.

In the meantime this should get you out of trouble. You can also use the export function but only as a MIDI Groove Clip.

I believe it is a Windows permission thing that dragging to desktop does not work. Apparently this was best back in the days of Windows XP and Sonar 8.5<<<
But yes, dragging to Browser is now the best and preferred method.
Using the + key in the Browser's menu bar, I cycled to the Desktop and was even able to drag a midi file there.

Dragging MIDI clips directly to the Desktop works for me in Sonar X3e on my system.

Sonar Platinum broke this functionality and a Problem Report was submitted (http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/3181996).  The functionality is still broken in the "Dorchester" release.

Drag to the Browser works reliably as others have suggested in this thread.
