Toontrack releases Southern Soul EZX

My wife and I visited Fame Studios and Muscle Shoals Studio (@ 3614 Jackson Highway--as seen on the cover of the Cher album of the same name) this past summer for the tours.  It was a great slice of music history.  They're re-doing the Jackson highway studio so we were some of the last to see it before the remodel.  Rolling Stones, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Paul Simon, Otis Redding, Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett, Staples Singers, Rod Stewart, Bob Seger....the list goes on and on. 
 
I've got pics of some of the gear they have there.  I'll try to dig 'em out for you guys.  My wife didn't really appreciate the sight of a Pultec, but maybe you all will. ;-)

These drums are great.  Nice, un-hyped kits.

Finally got it at time+space for 57 samolians.

I fell off the wagon I'm afraid...There are a few new youtube videos up today and it look like there is a separate midi pack for this? Can anyone confirm? I haven't installed it yet, but I'm sure it comes with the typical midi.

Yeah, I'm probably wrong. I hope so.

I wonder if that means its a model shift or if its been that way all along and I've been thinking I owned all the MIDI packs.
 
Not that I've missed anything. I use what there if it works. If not I got a ton of groove monkey MIDI too.

I honestly haven't used the search/find feature. I'm old school. If I know I want a Country feel I use the browser to the Country stuff and audition there.

I've got my eye on this Southern Soul pack as well.  Somehow, I have resisted pulling the plug....so far.

Did a quick (in house) listen last night. This will get some use for sure.

You should give the search feature a honest try. It will only save you time. There is no down side. With the latest update all my Groove Monkey, and others, gets included in the search results. Find a groove you like, drag it into the search box and se what matches by percentage. Use high percentage matches or low.

Yep, but this set seems more "real" or less produced than some of the others. Don't you think? That's what I like about the Addictive drums kits, but it's hard to beat the value with Toontrack. They are always coming out with new stuff and if you wait, you can get the kit with midi for one third of an AD2 adpak without midi. I've actually been blending the DW from EZD2 with the Fairfax vol.1 from AD2. It works well. 

Speaking of MIDI packs for TT. Did y'all know that you can a generic 6 pack license for EZD MIDI Packs from BestService for € 57,98? (~$65, or $11 per MIDI pack).
 
I used mine for 5 packs and am saving the sixth for the Soul Grooves.
 
I'm down to 8 TT EZD MIDI packs left to own. Backbeats, Basick Rock (3 packs), Jazz (2 packs), HIP-HOP, High Energy Grooves.
 
Don't care too much for the HIP-HOP or Jazz. So I'll get another 6 pack after the next desirable pack comes out after Soul Grooves or in July, which ever comes first.
