[Solved] DimPro Gibson EB5 Bass - multisamples not found

Hi all,
  • I am on SPlat Dorchester / Windows 7 64 bits.
  • I have re-installed Dimension Pro via CCC (took about 2 hours).
  • I have done a VST Scan, restarted Sonar and done a 'F5' in the DimPro Browser to refresh it.
  • Have also restartet the machine
Would like to try out the Gibson EB5 basses under 'Real Basses'.
When I select one of the 5 entries, I get a pop-up messagebox saying

Multisamples not found
EB5 TCTN+ TCTB.sfz

I have also tried to scan my C:\ & D:\ drive, looking for the sfz-files,
but they are are nowhere to be found, certainly not under DimPro\multisamples.

I had a similar problem when installing the Reference Guide, and at the time,
Braintree, I suspected the reason was my non-English installation directories
on the C:\ - drive. They are called 'C:\Programfiler' and 'C:\Programfiler (x86)'.

Is there anyone out there able to shed some light on this?
No other problem with DimPro - that I'm aware of.

Thanks in advance.

    Can you locate them through windows explorer? Usually C:\Program Files (Program Filer)\Cakewalk\Dimension Pro\Multisamples on Win7 x64, and C:\Program Files X86\Cakewalk\Dimension Pro\Multisamples on Win7 X86 (32 bit).

    No,
unfortunately, they are not on my harddrive at all.

For what it's worth, I don't see any such program in Dim Pro or Rapture Pro.  My Dim Pro was installed with X3 last fall.

The Gibson EB5 programs are in place,
but when I select one of the five present ones,
I get the error Message 'Multisample not found'.

I think Craig Anderton made these samples from
a Gibson 5-string bass and made them available
for Sonar users during a monthly give-away some time
    back, probably Sonar X3.

Then they were refined and included in one of
SPlats monthly releases, if I remember correctly.

I don't have them if they're supposed to be under 'Real Basses'

    Do you have Rapture Pro?
If not, did you reinstall Dimension Pro when
    upgrading to Sonar Platinum?

You will probably get them if you reinstall DimPro,
seeing that you are on SPlatD.

If DPro was not installed when the EB5 package was installed, I would guess the multisamples are stored in a folder below where the RPro samples are located, the default is "C:\Cakewalk Content\Cakewalk Sample Data\Rapture Pro." This is not where DPro would normally look for multisamples. You can either point DPro to look in the Rapture Pro folder or move the EB5 samples to the DPro multisamples folder.

    Hi scook,
if the missing sample file name is 'EB5 TCTN+ TCTB.sfz', or something
like *EB5*.sfz, it's not on my harddrive at all.
I've searched and looked at all .sfz files on my system both the C:\ & D:\ drives,
but nothing like EB5 came up.

    Thanks for your interest!

The SFZ files are not the samples, they point to the samples. For example here are two lines from the EB5_PURE_B.sfz file:

    <region> sample=EB5_PURE_B\B1.wav key=B1 lokey=b1 hikey=b1
    <region> sample=EB5_PURE_B\C2.wav key=C2 lokey=C2 hikey=C2

This means it's looking for the samples in the EB5_PURE_B folder. The sample names are just note names, like B1, C1, C#1, etc. Maybe this screen shot will help you locate them:

Having already installed both the free and commercial version of Anderton's EB5 libraries I did not bother with the new installer. The sfz you are looking for is part of the free version. It is available here http://blog.cakewalk.com/...s-pack-free-downloads/

    Hi Craig,
thanks for the explanation. That confirms the files, and folders are not
    on my HDD.
Maybe because my Program Files Directory is named 'C:\Programfiler' -
which means it's a Norwegian version of Windows 7.

Are the EB5 samples the same ones that was given to us in the Sonar X3
period? Or are the Platinum ones reworked & refined?

I think I have saved the first EB5 incarnation somewhere,
maybe I can install those manually.

IIRC the EB 5 expansion pack was not provided free with Dim Pro, you had to buy it. Did you purchase it at some point? I think it may be included for free with Rapture Pro but I'm not sure...

I think it was a monthly give-away, free for a month for
Sonar Producer X3 customers. Not sure if it was the
    EB5 Expansion Pack, though.

    Found it via Google:

Guitar Month Bonus Pack (Free Download)

All customers can now download the Guitar Month Bonus Pack, which includes a selection of Craig Anderton’s AdrenaLinn loops that he sampled using Roger Linn’s famous AdrenaLinn effects pedal.   Craig has also designed a one-of-a-kind Bass Guitar Instrument for Dimension Pro that samples one of the eight basic sounds obtainable with a real Gibson EB 5-String electric bass, and includes five programs based on these samples.

Yes, that was a separate "freebie," not the full expansion pack.

There's so much stuff floating around I'm having a hard time just keeping track of what I'm entitled to - how the heck could I ever possibly use all of this stuff?!!

Well, unless I'm playing a physical bass, the only bass I use anymore is the EB 5 expansion pack. So that makes life simple

Just an update on this -
I bought and downloaded the Gibson EB-5 string Bass from Cakewalk.

It installed into Rapture (though the Expansion Pack said Dimension Pro). and when
selecting it in Rapture, I got the message 'Error uncompressing data - Program Load failed'.
Having read other posts about EB5 I was prepared for this.

So I located the installed EB5 folders under Rapture, and copied them to the
corresponding directories under Dimension Pro. After a VST rescan and an
'F5' in the DimPro browser, everything was working beautifully.

So, a happy ending for me, thanks to this forum, of course. :-)

I have a couple ProChannel and TH2 Producer presets that are optimized for the EB 5. The ProChannel preset mostly uses a high shelf to boost the highs, starting from the mids. I've submitted the presets for inclusion in a future monthly release.

FWIW, I think the best example of what this bass can sound like is this song on my YouTube channel.
