    Wow. Very nice.
Sometimes the guitar isn't loud enough perhaps.

    this is a nice start....
    begs for full vocal treatment.

i like the smooth laid back mix approach,
but i can understand if someone listens to it at low volume,
a lot of the cool stuff disappears.

    sounds great cranked.

i almost never say 'add compression' or limiting just to bring stuff up,
but in this case, i think it would work.

you need some more high end data on the guitar part to get it to sit right.
almost needs 'upward compression', or expanding.

"Electrofolk" is a real thing? I like it if it is, because I've been an unwitting practitioner for years without knowing it had a name.

This tune is a wide-open canvas...you could really let your imagination soar, mixing up contrasting tones, styles and instruments. Think about pushing some elements into the back with reverb, so everything's not competing to be up front. Have some fun with the premise, e.g. putting synthetic effects on acoustical instruments (UberMod on cowbell, for example) to blur the lines even further.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

This is a nice collection of sounds and textures overlaying a simple guitar track.  It's just long enough without being too long to hold my attention.  Good job!

    All the best,

I really enjoyed this track!! As mentioned above, would use reverb and compression to tuck some things behind and brings other levels up. Would love to hear this with some vocals. Off to check out some of your other stuff

Great ideas here Dave...to me it tended to sound video gamish....but realize I'm also very old school, and well...just old. I liked the intro on the guitar. I think you really did a lot with the mix. Lots of people will like it having that "sound"...so keep at it:)

thanks, a lot for the replies, guys! I really appreciate them.
This is a tune where I sort of just really let the ideas flow completely freely from me. It was mostly whatever I came up with on the spot, I used. I started with only the guitar, started beating on the guitar body and decided to add a beat... then thought some synths would be, cool, and so on... Until I added the aluminum dog bowl to my "awesome percussion collection" :).

I'll admit I just mixed along the way- I didn't pay so much mind to it as long as things were in relative balance. I though about boosting it after I realized HOW low signal it was, so if it ever gets a more dignified release, I'll definitely be making a few minooor changes. There's definitely a lot that can be done with this track!
    Thanks again!
