Bouncing midi tracks to audio tracks - Sonar Professional

Hello all.
 
I am trying to bounce my soft synth tracks to audio tracks, so I can finish off a project, add VSTs etc.  However, for the life of me I can't figure out how.
 
The suggestion I've seen, in Sonar documentation no less, says to select the track and click File --> Export --> Audio, but I get the following message when I try this, obviously because the track is simply midi and therefore not technically an Audio track:

 
Can somebody help me please because this is driving me nuts.

There is no need to bounce the tracks to finish a project however; to bounce a MIDI track select the audio track(s) associated with the synth too.

I found I could only apply specific VSTs to soft synth tracks, so I'm doing this to allow me to use the effects I want.
 
I've done as you suggested, and it hasn't placed the audio track straight back into the project.  Is there a way that does this, so I don't need to mess about with getting the timing of the audio file correct?

Check out the Freeze function. It freezes the soft synth output in place. There's a button for it in the track that looks like a snowflake (actually more like an asterisk ).  Otherwise, the way to render audio inside a project is to use Bounce to Tracks.
 
 
P.S. Those are some pretty nice-sounding tracks you have posted on Youtube!

Thanks.  Where do I find the "Bounce to Tracks" option, as I can't find it and this sounds like it is exactly what I want to do.
 
And thanks for the compliments.  Most of the tracks I have up at the moment were recorded in Studio One Free.  I moved to Sonar because of all the extra functions and the ability to pay monthly, so I'm hoping that the extra tools at my disposal will help the quality.  Having the ability to use 3rd party plugins is good for a start, as you can't in the free version of Studio One (and it doesn't even include a EQ plugin you can use!)
 
 

As Scook said, there is no need to bounce MIDI to finish a project. But it can help reduce cpu usage. What version of SONAR are you on? With the newer versions, you could use "freeze track".

Thanks all for the help.  I never noticed that "tracks"menu there.  I've managed to do it now!

In my opinion, you will have a more flexible workflow if you choose to freeze your synths, rather than bounce to track, but there's no harm in doing either.

I agree - especially of you freeze without applying fx. I hardly ever bounce anything, but if for some reason I do want an audio track rather than a frozen synth I just drag the "frozen" audio to a new track. I've never timed it, but it always seems that the two stage freeze/drag is also quicker than a single bounce.
