I noticed a couple of errors. I did this in a hurry and as a consequence, I let a couple of bugs slip through. If I do any more I will take more time to make sure there are no issues. I am kind of new at tutorial videos. I will get better if I keep doing it. Just for giggles, I wonder if anyone can spot the two glaring "bugs" in this video...ha ha ha.

Great voice and video. "Matilda key"

I'm putting those shortcuts in right now. As you say, oh jedi master, no more mousing! I'll have to use something other than the matilda key, though. I mapped that to deselect everything many years ago and it's so part of me that I hit it in EVERY program I use (to generally comic effect). I'm recommending this video series! (Um, it will be a series, won't it?) Hey, pitch your video to Lynda.com. Sharke was just in here the other day decrying the lack of Sonar-specific content over there. Plus, Sylan, you could read the phone book out loud, and I'd sit and listen. Hey, just curious, what is your screen capture program?

Nice. The "matilda" binding itself was worth the time to watch. A number of other useful tips, even though the only person I will be impressing with my new found speed is me. I do believe, however, that the default binding for the 'U' key is "Undo". I use that enough that I have almost worn the print off that key so I will have to find another selection for the Center function. Thanks. I will look for the next video.

Thanks guys, I am really glad you found something useful. That is encouraging. Hey, just curious, what is your screen capture program? Ha ha, I am using the free CamStudio open source program. It does not have much in the way of features, but it does a basic capture just fine. When you see me zooming in on something, I do that in Sony Vegas with the Pan and Crop feature. So I capture the screen with CamStudio, then import that into Sony Vegas for editing. I do all the dialog as a voice over in SONAR Platinum of course. I a little mixing of the audio in SONAR and import all that into Vegas for the final video. When I play the SONAR project and you hear it play in the video, that is done by this: I am recording various playback channels via loopback mode with my RME FireFace UFX direct to external USB drive. Then that too is mixed in with the dialog and all audio in SONAR before being dropped into Vegas for the video. The mic I used is a Shure KSM 44. I think that about covers everything in how I did it. Other than that, just my familiarity with SONAR and my pure enjoyment of sharing it's strengths with others.

I'll add to the "cool stuff, dude!" chorus. Ditto on the VO. BTW I really like using HyperCam for screen captures. It's free as well. The way I do my videos involves two interfaces, a TASCAM US-4x4 running ASIO for SONAR and an Octa-Capture running WDM for Vegas, and to provide audio for HyperCam to record. That way the narration can play back in Vegas while I follow along and do things on screen with SONAR, while recording the SONAR screen and audio in HyperCam.

Nothing I can add to what has already been said, so Ditto! I hope you do more of these. For now, I'm going to try to keep track of the things I grab the mouse for most often so I can start the process of transitioning to Jedi Master. Thanks for doing this

I do a few of these things already and am also an enthusiastic and inveterate keyboard-shortcut-customizer, but there were a few things I hadn't thought of, and will be implementing for sure. Thanks for that! I found the video quite entertaining too, as well as helpful/informative.

Thanks for all the positive feedback. I will see if I can do another one. I am slammed right now with clients and life in general so I don't know when I can get a new one out. Most topics are already covered, but perhaps I can do one on gain staging or the use of compression. Or is there something else that users would like to see? Let me know and I'll see when I can sneak another one out. To Noel: Yes, the F7, F8, F9, and F10 are the ones I could not let go of from the older versions.... So I just keep using them like I did back then. Just a quick FYI, my first ever Cakewalk experience was Guitar Tracks 2, then Pro Audio 9.
