EZ Drummer 2 and Existing Projects

Hi;
I use Sonar X3 Studio.
I recently bought EZ Drummer 2 upgrade from EZ Drummer 1.  I am impressed with the program but I chose to remove it for now and go back to 1 because of problems with existing projects I made in EZD 1.

I bought the upgrade to not only work on new projects but also to try new some of the new features of EZD 2 to enhance the older projects I made with EZD 1.  I found when I ran the existing projects some of the other plug ins I ran became muted.  On one project some horn sounds I made with the Aria Player for Garritan Jazz & Big Band would no longer play and on another project even the SI Bass guitar (part of Sonar)  was muted.  Upon going back to EZD 1 those muted instruments again played fine.

There was also a linking issue.  When I opened EZ Drummer 2 I would get an error message saying something about this is an older version.  The newer version can be found at C:Program Files (86)/VSTPLUGINS.   Even though the .dll file was at that location the error message continued to come up and I could not use some of the new features of EZD 2.

Gave up.  Uninstalled EZD 2.  Sweetwater could not refund my money, so I'm out almost $100.00.  I'm thinking about trying again but I need some answers.  The guys at Sweetwater tried for hours to help me, even accessing my system remotely, but are baffled as well.  Anything you could suggest I would appreciate.

Thanks

John B.

    This "muting" was known problem since the release of EZDrummer 2.

    All that is required is to reset your muted MIDI tracks output to the appropriate synth. Once the project is saved you'll be golden. At least that is what I had to do.

    PITA for sure but not as disastrous as it seems.

    BAPU, Thanks!

    Could you please tell me how you do that (reset synths)?  I usually load my synths through the browser.  Would appreciate it.

    John,

    If you mean that your synths are Simple Instrument Tracks then I may have this wrong (I don't use SITs).

    On the MIDI track of a synth folder (where there is, at least, one audio track and one MIDI track) I drop down the "O" box that declares where the MIDI is "O"utput to. In other words if the Audio track is for SI-Session Strings I make sure that the Output is now set to that (it was wrong on the first open of the project after the install of EZDrummer2).
