How do I get rid of Multi status for Pasted clip?

How do you break a multi relation between clips?

Trying now for half an hour without figuring it out.
In this case a midi clip.

Looked in Clip properties and tried to change status there - no effect
Changed start to where it is - but it still remains multi - it just change dlength to zero.
Tried to ensure previous clip was unselected before pasting - still multi

Just did a copy of a clip to clipboard, paste and also tried paste special - and it remains multi.

Searched help with no success, I bleeding give up....
EDIT:
I tried pasting at the end of the track, no problem it becomes a free clip - then changing start time to 1:1:0.
But as in this case pasting at 1:1:0 it always becomes multi

Is this a bug?
Or can you break the bond to clip in clipboard.

Are you talking about linked clips as a result of pasting?  If so , then right click on any of the linked clips and select "Unlink"

Thanks, thought so also at first - that this was the same as linked clips, but does not belong to that category it seems.
    Everything unlink is grayed.

    Really weird.
Also doing paste special, link clips were always unchecked as well.

Not sure what this Multi is, that is marked on just about every property for the clip?
In this case pasted clips was longer than space I pasted it in, but was to shorten/crop that later - is Sonar assuming anything "smart" doing this, that overlapping do this?
Will try to reproduce anywhere if I figure that out.

Something to do with that it's pasted earlier in timeline than original clip, or something.

Must be a way at least to break the spell on the clip - as a workaround if it happends again?
Tried to change length, from multi, tried to change repeat to zero - and no go.

Never encountered that. Bounce to Clip(s), maybe? Have you tried just closing/re-opening the project?

No I didn't try bouncing, might be good idea - thanks. It should do some merging.

What I found out so far though - pasting a shorter version of a clip that does not overlap next clip, it's alright.
If I then extend the end over next clip - suddenly it's multi.

I at least know how to handle it all now.
So something with overlapping - have to try using different lanes maybe also and see if different.

I also found out not that all Ctrl+C I did worked. Later rightclicking I saw that Copy was grayed - but you never get a warning about it(windows sounds turned off, so it might be there). So I did not select correctly on all tries I did - added to confusion. I have some issues with smart tool, it's not so smart after all. Many times I go and select a clip on header but nothing happends, other times trying to drag in header to move, nothing happends always either. But once I get smarttool to work, it usually continue to work - like I'm in a wrong mode or something. I started using function keys instead to correct tool - a lot of hammering keys F6/F8 to crop a clip and then move.

I have never noticed this, but seems an overlap "indicator." In addition to bouncing, paste special may be another option (either blend old with new or replace old with new). I forget now if blending combines the clips into one though.

Edit: I just checked this out to understand what was in the OP, and the (Multi) shows up in both "Start" and "Clips Linked" whenever more than one clip is selected (even if no over lap). I think this is simply to let the user know that one discreet clip has not been selected (and therefore cannot be edited) via the clip properties. The Start time is an editable field (one clip), but the clips linked just indicates that they are or not (via copy/paste) and must be broken via right-clicking the clip.

Re: How do I get rid of Multi status for Pasted clip? May 22, 15 1:52 AM (permalink)
I have lots of clips in my projects and work heavily in MIDI and audio tracks, and see a number of weird issues that I can't find steps reproduce, mostly in Take lanes (clips don't follow the global snap setting, Ctrl-dragging a clip doesn't create a linked clip although I have "Copy Entire Clips as Linked Clips" enabled in Preferences, "Select All Siblings" on the right-click menu is grayed out although the clip has dotted outlines and the "Clip Linked" field in the Clip Properties Inspector is showing a number other than "0", etc.). There's nothing wrong with the "(Multi)" indication when you selected more than one clip. But I do have seen "(Multi)" even when I definitely selected only one clip, but only once or twice in the past. My recommendation: when you copy and past clips in tracks, ALWAYS expand Take lanes if you want to avoid weird issues. Also, don't use right-click lasso even when you see only one clip there (edit: lassoing the middle section of the clip is probably the best, since simply clicking on the clip to select it could accidentally move the clip a bit to the left/right when Snap To Grid is disabled). There might be a very tiny clip at the beginning or end of the clip and you end up selecting both the visible clip and the tiny invisible clip at the same time which generates the "(Multi)" indication.

Selecting multiple clips do the "multi" thing, but in this case an odd variation since rightclick unlink is grayed.
And initially posting this thread, I could not edit the "multi" fields properly without affecting the original clip.

I will narrow down further to post a CWBR later on - something is not quite as it should, at least not intuitively.
Right now I know what to do to be able and get something done.

    Thanks for confirming.

I will try some things like - first clicking an indiviual tool and then back to smart etc - and see if I can capture how to get smart working. It seems to be in a special mode just after a project is loaded, or something.

Every time I've encountered that, it was because the Edit Filter was not set to Clips.

In my case, it's different. The Edift Filter is set to Clips as usual, I first select the clip by clicking the clip header or by lassoing the clip (and the clip turns gray), then if I click the header again and try to drag the clip to left/right, it wouldn't budge. Then, if I click elsewhere to deselect the clip and try to simply click and drag the clip (without selecting it first), it moves as expected. I can't for the life of me reproduce this in a new, blank project. The only possible scenario I can think of is that I mistakenly selected the clip and another clip positioned at bar 1 together. But the thing is, none of my projects contain audio/MIDI clips at bar 1.

There's actually another possibility. If the Now time marker is positioned over the clip and you click exactly on the white vertical bar and drag, the clip won't move, of course. But I don't think that's what I did.
