Widening Piano
The Ivory II grand pianos—especially the Steinway—sound phenomenal. They are not, however, very wide even when stereo imaging is at 100%. Is there a simple way to widen the stereo image? This VI does not sound as wide to me as the acoustic pianos I have recorded with two mics, although otherwise the sound is perfect.

Nomad Factory Blue Tubes has a stereo imager which works reasonably well in moderation.

Waves S1 is a good one too. I usually use it the other way where too wide stereo is better at 1100-1400 hours or so. http://www.waves.com/plugins/s1-stereo-imager S1 is part of Gold bundle, and look for a campaign if you can wait, but not right now it seems. From time to time as single as well. Power pack is a good deal right now - $129 for 10 plugins, and looking at Audiodeluxe or WavesUniverse even cheaper.

Sonar x3 comes with the Nomad Factory Blue Tube Bundle, which includes a stereo widener. Which version of Sonar are you currently using? Voxengo has a free stereo widening plugin you can download and use for free. See the link, http://www.voxengo.com/product/stereotouch/ Peace, Jesse G

Channel Tools works, but I've got to put it out there that the only times I've had issues with Sonar Plat is when i've used/inserted Channel Tools into the project. Some others have reported quirks with it also. It may be fine, just saying.

Great ideas, guys. Some of these plugs sound like things I will use more than just for this. (Craig, You know I am sometimes prone to a rather wide image. ) I will have to look at Channel Tools again, though, because I found it to be useful only for narrowing or reversing L/R. I did not think it could widen.

OK, cool. I see the widening preset—thanks. In the case of Ivory, though, I am still getting more left meter across the whole keyboard.

Maybe bounce the synth using split mono and process each track separately.
