CWBRN-33042 - Scrub cuts out bug

Can anybody confirm? Thanks...

STEPS
1) New project
2) Create audio track
3) Drag in a audio clip (wav) that's over 10 seconds
4) Try this until you can reproduce the issue:
Scrub from the beginning of the clip, from left to right by holding down the J button and moving the mouse to the right. Don't change direction until the clip is over. Do the same again from right to left... After that just try various combinations.

Expected
You heard scrubbing.

Actual
As expected BUT it seems to cut out quite a lot (several seconds at a time)

Scrub has always been a little wonky for me... especially with audio.

The results seem consistent though. It just cuts in and out... Is that reproducible in Dorchester? Thanks..

Scrub is a pretty solid recipe for a crash for me at this point, so I stay away from it...

One known cause of this is having an unused soft synth in the rack - i.e. a synth that has no associated audio track in the project. Weird but true.

OK, followed the steps. Yes, on my system it cuts out after a second or so and does not come back. It scrubs for about a second, and then cuts out. And eventually, if I keep doing this, it will probably crash. It is entirely unsatisfactory.

Took me a while to reproduce this. I think you left out some key details that are necessary to reproduce it (at least for me):

    - While scrubbing backwards, stop moving the mouse and let the transport come to a complete stop.
    - Without releasing the left-click begin scrubbing forward again.

EDIT: And scrubbing backwards again momentarily clears it up, so not a huge deal.

Well the brief summary would be scrub right the entire clip, then scub left entire clip. That's how I managed to repro. For others it might be different.

After they get it working I hope bakers can throw in a better algorithm one day. If they introduced varispeed I'd wet my pants but I digress.

Just attempted to reproduce and could not.   Could it be an issue with not enough computer horsepower?   I was able to scrub forward and backward on an audio track.     All went at the correct tempo (no speed or pitch shifting).   I just pressed J and drew the mouse right or left on an audio track.   Maybe I'm missing something: since the playback is exactly the same, for an audio track, as normal play, why would you use scrub?    (On a midi track, scrub follows the rate of mouse movement ... so you can very rapidly review a slow passage).    Or possibly I have a default setting that affects audio scrub ... dunno ..

This bug and the fact that the tool works only on track basis (not Take lane basis, which is ideal) is the reason why I stopped using it.
