Sonar X3 and using Omnisphere 1

I think this has been discussed earlier but can't seem to find the thread. I'm using  theSpectrasonics Omnisphere a lot and one thing that really bugs me is that Sonar messes the multi volume faders every now and then. I remember reading that you should only use the Omnispheres faders OR Sonars faders but even though I do this Sonar some times reduces the volume of a single fader to zero. What's up with that?

Never seen that happen, but I only use Sonar's faders. The only faders I ever adjust in Omnisphere is when I am editing a patch and am adjusting levels between layers.

Thanks for the input Dan. In that case I should try to stick with Sonar's faders and see if that helps. I usually use them from Omnisphere.

    Just a guess but...,

In the preferences window under MIDI, deselect Zero ALL Controllers when Play stops.

Drove me nuts on some Kontakt libs from Spitfire whose Expression settings would zero out when I hit stop.

The problem with turning that off is that pitch bend and other CC's won't reset when you stop playback. I leave it on and have never had a problem with Omnisphere. It does cause some issues with Kontakt, but I create a separate output in Kontakt for each loaded instrument and that seems to mitigate the issue. The only other VST that I've seen have issues with "Zero ALL Controllers when Play stops" is the Aria Player, which is used by Garritan libraries. Aria ties volume to Midi CC 7, so the faders don't work.

I'm having another strange thing going on with saving the multi preset. Omnisphere doesn't find the saved user presets. I saved a preset to a user sub-folder inside the steam and Omnisphere simply can not find it.

I'm trying to translate a simple instrument track with 8 midi input tracks to a multiout synth. Is there a work around to this?

In your Omni browser is the search set to search all libraries ?

As for the other issue, I would probably insert a new instance of Omni with multi outs, point the existing midi tracks accordingly and then ditch the original instance. Can't check right now, but I don't think the replace synth function will give you the option to change the outputs.

How do I setup omnisphere to search for user patches? Can't find that option. The file browser can not see the parches either. :(

This is what I'm trying to do but I don't want to setup the patches manually to the new omni instance.

In your multi browser, where it says directory what is it set to ? I think the default is "all spectrasonics". You can change the parameter from the dropdown menu to all, or user, or whatever else you have. Either that or try a search "by author".

AFAIK there is no way to automatically change a SIT to multi-out, so you either have to reload the multi in a new instance and redirect the midi tracks , or manually set up new audio out tracks and manually assign them to the various synth outputs.

It's set to all. I might drop an email to Spectrasonic and ask if they know what's the deal with this. I just realized that I can simply create a new audio track on route the omnisphere to the input. I only need work on a track or two in their own audio tracks so it shouldn't take too long to reroute them.

    Thanks for the helpfulness. :)
