How do I install 'Dorchester' before 'Everett' update?

My plan was to update 1 mo. behind each release in order to avoid possible bugs in the program.
As of now I'm still using the Cambridge update. Now that Everett has been released, I see no way to just
update to the Dorchester level. Others on the forum had mentioned doing this, and although I searched I came up dry.

Is there a way to get to the Dorchester release w/o going all the way up to the newest Everett release?

Or.....just bit the bullet and go for Everett release now?

Yes, just install from the files you downloaded manually and stored away in separate folders for each release . . . Ooohhhh . . . you didn't do that ?

I would just go straight for Everett, latest and greatest and all that . . .

I believe I understand the thought process for the staying one release behind but these updates are relatively small and so frequent I am not sure it makes much sense. It would be a manual process or possibly applying the current release and rollback. Which begs the question, if rollback is so easy (and it is) why not stay current and rollback if you encounter a showstopper?

In this case though, wouldn't he need the "D" stuff to roll back to "D", which is what he doesn't have

C3 is supposed to fetch installers which are not cached. I have not tested it because I stay current. I have tested rollback several times though.

Same here. Rollback is simple and reliable, although I've never needed to do it permanently, only for testing.

Users shouldn't be scared by the people who come on to forums with problems immediately after an update. A lot of times it's pilot error from not fully understanding a function, or not doing something like a reset. In the rare case where a bug is introduced (e.g., fixing one control bar issue forced the user-definable buttons to the right no matter where you tried to put them), you can roll back. In my case, I kept the buttons to the right anyway, so I didn't care.

I would recommend downloading updates when they appear and trying them out, because so far no one has reported rollback problems.

OK, so what do I do exactly.

I am in the same boat for the same reason as the OP.

How do I rollback or whatever to get the full Dorchester, then the full Everett.

I really want these...and hey, I paid for it, as a paid in full for a year SPlat owner/user.

I will now update immediately from now on!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When you download Everett, you'll get everything that came before, no extra step needed.

Just go into the Command Center, click on the SONAR button, and install. Then do anything else that needs updating.

So...I clicked on the yellow Sonar button to update and it said, in the description, "Cambridge" and now it is downloading.

UP4 Setup 21.4.0.27...is what is says as it is downloading.

I can't believe I did not have any updates since the original install.

I always selected anything other than green and updated, but totally missed this one.

Not at all, it's just a different way to install software. Glad you got it sorted out. I just let the Command Center do its thing, and stand back.

I suspect there are a bunch of X3 Producer people who will update eventually, but then kick themselves for not having done it sooner.

    All set. Thanks again.

I checked my current install and it says "Everett" when I click on the green Sonar radio button.

So I must be all up to date. Hope, as you said, it gave me all prior applications from previous builds.

I will fire SPlat up tomorrow and check...me thinks me wants to play my rig now.

No option anyplace in the CCC...

Right click on Sonar Platinum that is highlighted orange in your screen cap.
I'm not at my PC so can't test. If not there right click Launch.

When Sonar is open go to Help>About you should see the version number which ends with 27.if less than 27 you are on an earlier version.

Done-Everett installed. It's be covered before here in the forum, but one more question.
I already have Rapture/DPro/Melodyne/AD2 installed. C3 shows 'red' lights for these items.

Other that having 'green' lights in C3, is it really necessary to DL these again, or every month that Sonar gets updated?

Rapture, Melodyne, and D Pro were likely installed prior to the existence of the CCC, so SONAR doesn't know they're there. They can remain red. AD2 is unique to Platinum. Did you install it already? If so, and it shows up in tracks, I wouldn't worry about the red light...although maybe there was an update, I don't know. I haven't installed AD2 yet because I use audio for drums.

Rap/DPro/Melodyne were all previously installed with past versions of Sonar (X's).
And the AD1 & AD2 (before the AD2 release, I upgraded to AD2 through XLN).
But when Sonar "A" came out, I re-downloaded these and all green lights. Seems to me that C3 would recognize that this was done since they 'passed through' C3 downloading process.

No biggie, just trying to understand. For now I'm leaving the red light on...and hope no one comes knocking on my door for a massage or a happy ending....

    Reset indeed!
I opened C3 again, then logged out. Reopened C3 and now ALL the indicators are red!
Except for the main Sonar one is green. But in the green Sonar, all indicators are red.
Maybe I'll log out of everything CW and reboot the cpu.

Re: How do I install 'Dorchester' before 'Everett' update? 2015/05/30 12:55:13 (permalink)
Logging out of C3 causes it to forget what is installed. I was not suggesting that as a solution but the cause of your issue.

I'll just reinstall the whole  kit and caboodle then. Tonight or tomorrow morning and will report back.

It is really not necessary. I believe you are current now and there is an e-zine for each release that lists the packages needing to be installed.

After updating to Everett, I logged out of C3. This reset all my feature indicators back to red.
Since I'm a bit OCD.....I have DL everything under Sonar all 'green' lights there. Also the Kick Start & Hardgroove collection since they were newer.

As there were no changes in AD2, Melodyne, Rapture and DPro, I did not take the time to DL and will leave these red.

Learned my lesson! To keep green lights, don't log out of C3 unless you have a real reason too!
