Cakewalk Don't know what is going on!

First let me say how happy I am that those who are having a good experience are having it. I'm not and every update I don't! I just spent the last few hours, since updating to Everett, watching a plethora of symptoms come back. Playback started canceling out again. SONAR has crashed 4 times! Loosing multi-samples again in rapture, now I'm loosing SI-Piano! Last up date it was SI-Bass. I can't even use the the LP-64 EQ or Multiband without it crashing!

This has become tiresome! I'm a real person spending real money! Once is an accident or an issue, twice is a coincidence, and three times is BS!

Evidently, I lack the technical know how to make this software work on my end. Even after making hardware upgrades to the computer itself, I'm obviously wrong in what it is I'm doing.

I just want to say, if I pay 10 cents for a piece of candy that is said to taste like strawberries but it actually taste like lemons, how many times does a person have to troubleshoot their taste buds or reinstall something in their brain to know if it tastes like lemons or not?

I can't say that I would recommend this software to anyone. I guess on a positive note, I still have X3.

There I have said my piece and I'm done with cakewalk.

Hi. Did you do a vst scan after the update? If that do not help, try to do a vst reset and rescan (under preferences (P), vst settings).
Best of luck.

You mention a couple of things happening - but just about nothing under which conditions - and nothing about your system.

This kind of issues needs systematicly narrowing things down.

#1. so Windows version, amount of memory, soundcard used and drivers, approximate size of project in tracks and plugins loaded?
#2. you say "symptoms come back" - from what, Cambridge or Dorchester which did not cause symptoms?
#3. You say you loose this and that - what does that mean, not there to insert in a track, or not there anymore opening a project you saved and closed?
#4. You say not able to use LP64EQ - so one track project and insert it, crashes Sonar, or?

If I loose stuff it's usually got kicked under to sofa,  have you looked there?
If everyone else says it tastes of strawberry would you still blame the candy?

No, but if anyone else tasted lemons too, something is odd.

That's where the first option is to find out what the "lemon tasters" have in common that is different from the majority that taste strawberry, rather than blaming the candy which is common to all.

Ah yes, must be the lemon tasters.
But what if five people taste strawberry, one lemon, one grape, one banana, one apple and one peach?
Is it still the tasters?

It's probably not what you're doing, but want you're not doing. Plug-in related issues often relate to not doing a reset and rescan, which is crucial; it's even more likely this is the problem if X3 works but Platinum doesn't. Start there, because that's ended a lot of similar threads. If you keep having problems, then if you're interested in tasting the same strawberry almost everyone else is tasting, we'll need to attack one thing at a time and with more specifics. A symptom like "Playback started canceling out again" doesn't provide enough data for any kind of troubleshooting.

Sorry to hear you are experiencing these issues.  Please contact support to help resolve as we want all our customers to have a great experience with our products.

With the crashes did you send them to Cakewalk?  If not, I definitely encourage you to do so as we can examine the crash dump file and work to address in a future update.

As for losing multi-samples, the multisample path for Studio Instruments are stored in the registry per plugin.
For example: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cakewalk Music Software\Studio Instruments\EPiano

Note that going forward we are moving default paths to a central location such as C:\Cakewalk Content\Cakewalk Sample Data

I really hope you reconsider your decision as we have a passionate team of people who really want the best for our customers.

Best regards,
Keith

@JohnBonesDoe

1.  Thanks for having your system specs listed in your signature - that is generally quite helpful, though anyone reading the forums from a mobile device (phone) will not see them.  (I post mine in my signature too, seems to be a good place to put them anyways)

2.  It is actually GOOD that the problems you are indicating are occurring are not being widely reported by others - I mean this, by the way - as it means that these are likely due to one or more things local to your system/configuration/usage.  That means that we can probably get to the bottom of these issues, and hopefully get you past them.

3.  It generally works best to list each issue as a separate thread, as this will not only make it less confusing than trying to sort through several intertwined problems and possible solutions, it will also make it easier for folks down the line who may be looking for a solution for a similar issue on their system.

4.  The Cakewalk forums have a sizable number of really really proficient users, who regularly DO bend over backwards to try to help someone solve a reported set of issues, and if we can get you to separate each of your current issues into their own separate threads, and if you are willing to engage in the process of working through solving each issue, you will almost certainly find a great deal of assistance, and most likely solve or at least have a way around each issue.  I AM expecting to be on the forums this weekend quite a bit, as I have finally finished building and/or fixing 6 computers (over the past week), and can again devote time trying to help folks here.  I WILL look to be available and involved with helping you.  :)

Soooo, please post each issue in its own thread, I will go fire up a new pot of coffee, and let's get to it......
