Melodyne and Sample Tank 3 errors on plugin scan

Hey there
1) I have 2 different error messages poping up during Plugins Scan every time I load Sonar Platinum. First is related to the Sample Tank 3. The error says, "VPA Plugin rejected VPA host" Failure point reported as: Controller -> Initialize. "Disable Plugin" or "Enable Plugin (Risky)?"

I select Enable Plugin and it works, but it happens every time and it takes extra time away from the work.

2) Memodyne has similar issue (happens every scan) with slightly different message:

Failure point reported as: Call initProc
I also select Enable Plugin and it works.

I have not reinstalled Melodyne when upgraded from Sonar X3 Producer to Sonar Platinum. In "Add/Remoce Program" it listed as Melodyne Runtime 4.1x64  and Melodyne Single Track (2 entries). In the Control Center the version of Melodyne is called "Melodyne Essential" 2.1.2.002. I dont know if it has anything to do with the errors. What version do you have installed under Add/Remove Program if you on Sonar Platinum? I need it to stop doing it every scan- it is frustrating. What VPA host it rejected? Thank you.

Let's get the usual question out of the way first...did you reset and re-scan the plug-ins when you upgraded to Platinum? That may not be the problem but if it is, your problem will be solved.

I have it set to rescan on startup, which is reset operation. The issue I described is happening during that rescan/reset.

Hi. If you have not done this yet, I would still do a vst reset (different to rescan) under preferences (P), vst settings, reset.
    Best of luck.

Re the VPA error: according to IKM, this occurs when you install a new version of ST3 in a different location than the previous version. Finding and deleting the old version reportedly corrects it. Do a search on "SampleTank 3.dll" (yes, there's a space between "k" and "3") and see if that's the case.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

What VPA host it rejected? Thank you.

The error message is from the plugin not SONAR. This is most likely because you have a bad or incomplete plugin install - the dll is incompatible with other components on the system. You should contact the plugin vendor for more  information about this error if you can't resolve it. See this link and this one as well. If you google that error you will find lots of links of people with similar problems in other hosts as well so its a plugin issue.

The melodyne error could also be caused by a bad installation and has nothing to do with Everett.

As for the Melodyne plugin. If I do VST reset then Melodyne always gives me the error you indicated in your initial post. To fix this issue the only thing that I have found that works is to do the following.

     - Find the Melodyne VST3 dll (vst3 extension?). Usually in "Program Files/Common Files/" and then search for vst3 folder.
    - Move the dll to your desktop (don't just copy actually remove it from the current folder to somewhere else)
    - Start Sonar and let it scan VSTs
    - Quit Sonar
    - Move the Melodyne VST3 back to its original location
    - Start Sonar and it should report that it found 1 new plug-in (Melodyne)

    I hope that helps you

Re: Melodyne and Sample Tank 3 errors on plugin scan 2017/02/05 15:35:41 (permalink)
I found this solution on another thread. It solve all my Sampletank 2.5 and Sonicsynth errors (for now) so I thought I would post it here.

I'm running SONAR 32bit on a windows 7 64bit Profession with Cakewalk Platinum. (due to old legacy plugins in my projects)   The method below also allowed me to load Sampletank2.5 in Sonar 64bit version....

    1) Install IK Multimedia stuff by running the installs as administrator.
    2) Activate the IK Multimedia software using the IK Multimedia Authorization Manager (run as administrator).
    3) Set Sonar to run as Administrator.   Locate the SONARPLT.exe file in the Programs directory....   right click on the file, click properties,  under Compatibility, check the "Run as Administrator" box, and apply.

This solved all the scan and vst plugin issues for me.
NOTE: if you had a previous install of Sampletank or other vst plugins fail on first load and you disabled them, run the Cakewalk Plugin Manager (on the Utilities Menu) and select 'show excluded' and re-enable them.
