It runs on Win 8.1 so it seems likely it will. It is purely speculative as Sonar X3 is no longer under development.
The current version is the only one supported and assured to run under any new OS be it Win 10 or some other in the future.

This is my understanding of it as well. Generally, not always but generally the OS update doesn't effect previous software. Unless it's like something super dramatic. This really isn't and working with Windows 8.1 it will more than likely cross over.

Windows is pretty good about backwards compatibility, and Cakewalk has a good history of planning ahead to accommodate changes in Windows. So SONAR will probably be fine, but some non-Cakewalk plug-ins may be an issue.

Thanks All - Sonar X3 no-longer under development but still supported right?

You can get support, yes, all the help you could ask for.
But if you find a bug....

Presumably can we say then that Sonar Platinum is well on course for seamlessly gelling with Windows 10 when it gets rolled out next month ? Will the June end Sonar update specifically mention and ensure seamless and trouble free operation under Win 10 ?

This will be an important factor to decide whether to right away opt for the Win 10 update or not. The notification has appeared on my laptop for a Win 10 update reservation. What will be the essential factors to consider for the "Should I - Should I not... ?" thought process ?

The initial consideration should be "How stable is Windows 10?"

MS have a history of alternating between bad and good releases.  Vista was quickly replaced by Win7 which fixed a lot of issues.  8.0 was quickly replaced by 8.1    How long will Win10 last before they have to fix it or will they actually get it right this time?

    Who knows?

You can be pretty sure that Cakewalk will be upto date by the time Win 10 comes around. Cakewalk have always had close links with Redmond.

Audio device drivers are the lynch pin of a good DAW. Drivers for all sorts of hardware are usually the critical part of OS updates. Make sure to keep an eye out as vendors announce release dates for their drivers. If you have reputable hardware there's usually no problem but it may take a few weeks to months.

I can't find the link now, but I'm sure I read someone post that they have Sonar running on a Windows 10 preview.

The app will work it's your drivers you need to worry about. My advice is don't install Windows 10 for at least six months after release, that should avoid any big issues.
