Need Audio Device setup help…

I’m attempting to record from a Soundcraft Si Performer 2 live mixer through the USB port on an installed Si Multi Digital card using their Soundcraft_SI_USB_Driver_V6_14_0 installed on a Lenovo W540 laptop running Windows 7.

The driver installed itself to the “Program Files” directory (instead of “Program Files (x86)”), suggesting that the installed drivers are 64 bit.

On this machine, I’m running SONAR X3 (32 bit) (not yet having the courage to run 64 bit yet).

In SONAR’s Preferences/Audio/Devices page, I can see the Soundcraft device’s inputs & outputs listed, but they’re all greyed out and not selectable.  The only thing that’s selectable is the ASIO4ALL wrapper for the laptop’s onboard audio device.

On the Preferences/Audio/Driver Settings page, the Playback and Record Timing Master dropdowns only list ASIO4ALL.
  • What do the greyed out Input & Output Drivers selections under Devices mean?
  • What do I need to do to make these selectable?
  • Are the audio device drivers exclusively 32 or 64 bit?
  • If so…how would you install the 32 bit driver on a 64 bit machine/OS?
  • What else is there that I’ve missed?
Thanks in advance for all your help and for not asking what brand of hard drive or USB cable I'm using or whether there are cat pictures used as desktop wallpaper.

Hi Dan.

You need SONAR  to be 64bit to use the 64bit
drivers provided w/your interface.

you could check your interface home site
for 32bit drivers perhaps?

Hi Dan,

I'm just wondering why anyone would not want to run any program as 64bit...

We've recently had more and more members have issues with asio4all. Even having it installed on a system has created problems with other drivers.

It's pretty easy to uninstall to at least give it a try.
I doubt trying to run x86 drivers while running Win x64 will work. Drivers are connected between the OS and hardware.

It's clear you're running Win x64 why not give Sonar x64 a try. You don't have to do anything more than install it with only Sonar x64 plugins. There's more than enough 64 bit Sonar plugins that you could work without any others.

+1 to the above, and another quick note. You can have both the 64-bit and 32-bit versions of SONAR installed on the same machine. I continually install both the 32/64 VSTs as I still have some programs that are only 32-bit, but most VSTs have both 32/64 versions available as well.

Another quick point is I *believe* you need to shift to another driver mode (like WDM) first to be able to select any greyed out options when ASIO is already in use, then shift back. If they are all still grey when in WDM mode, take a look for 32-bit specific drivers. I honestly am not sure if they would even show if SONAR cannot use them in that list (I assume that they would not), meaning that you may already have the 32-bit drivers loaded, just can only choose one to be in ASIO mode (and ASIO4ALL does seem to prioritize itself).

Hello,

If the drivers are grayed out in preferences, try un-selecting the any driver that is checked and see if that allows you to check the Sound Craft Driver.. IHTH
