New hard drive

Hi all - New to the forums, and I searched for a related thread to no avail.  Sorry if this has been covered - if so, a link to the conversation would be much appreciated.  I ordered a new computer today and will need to move all of my current applications (SPlat, full TH2, Revalver 4, Guitar Rig 5, Reaktor 5, etc. to the new C: drive (I have a separate data folder that I'll still keep on its own).  In a nutshell, what do I need to do to get back up running?  For Sonar stuff, I assume its mainly a matter of reloading everything Cakewalk off of command center all over again?
 
Moving from a Core 2 Duo E7500 2.93GHz with 4Gb RAM to an i7 2600 3.4GHz with 8 Gb RAM.

    If you keep your plugin data paths the same, you won't have a zillion missing sample messages, or that sort of thing.
     
    For example, I have a zillion projects that have Kontakt loaded into them, and all kinds of samples paths are present for each loaded instrument.
     
    So, when I move everything to a new computer, I always make sure that I set up all my synth content  (like Kontakt sample libraries) with the same folder structure, and then all my projects find the samples at the locations specified within the projects.
     
    It isn't the end of the world if you have to locate missing content, but it can be a pain.

    Thanks for your reply, Bob.  Yes, that's something I wasn't really paying attention to before but will when I have to recreate the directories and paths on my new machine.  As far as loading software applications, will I just need to go back to Command Center then to reload SPlat, AD2, TH2, etc.?

    If you are replacing the C:\ drive in your current computer, you can just clone the drive and not install anything. your new drive will be C:\. Just make sure that your other drives keep the same name, and everything should find everything else where it expects it to be.

    You can swap a C drive from one machine to another and Windows will repair and ask to be re registered to the new machine. I just did this with W8.1.  I had to follow online prompts and a registration code that came up on the screen. I also had to say that this OS had been installed on "0" computers.  I first used "1" and it bombed out. 
     
    I'm not sure about the above mentioned cloning, I never thought of that.. I guess it would be the same as what I did but with a nice new drive. Of course it will be a SSD drive ..right? 
    The cloning if it works would be a cool way of keeping a fresh C drive or upgrading from a HHD to a SSD without all the headaches of installing software. 
     
    I'm thinking if you wanted to keep the old computer as a back up DAW and didn't want to fork over for a new MS licence then you'd just keep it off the internet.

    Thanks for the advice, folks.  I just got back online after being out of town.  I didn't get a chance to "clone" my C: drive before swapping machines but did get most of my files saved to a thumb drive.  Now, I've opened up the last project I was working on and can't seem to get TH2 or Addictive Drums working, but my Kontakt instruments are all there.  I'm thinking I need to do some reinstalling...again.  I thought I did...
     
    Anyway, thanks again for your help!
