Waterfox = 64 bit Firefox
My son just told me about this so I'm giving it a shot. I'm an old Firefox guy and don't care for IE or Chrome. My Firefox has been crashing since the last FF update. I was getting worried. If this doesn't crash, I'll be a happy man. It is a 64 bit Firefox clone from what I can tell. I did no research or go to the site. My son uses Torch(for gamers), and knew abot Waterfox, so I installed it and we'll see how it goes.

It's based on Firefox but is very unstable. Did you try uninstalling Firefox completely and then reinstalling it after backing up your profile? That usually does the trick. FF is still the most secure browser out there. Wouldn't trade it for anything.

Serious question: why on earth would anybody care if their web browser was 64 bits or not?

I don't care if my browser is 64 bit, but FF was crashing and I really don't want to change browsers. I this one crashes, I'll do the uninstall/reinstall thingy. 64 bit browser is much faster.......fwiw

Turn off auto-update on Firefox, and you won't have to update every time a new version comes along. (You can then do so at your own convenience). And why not rollback to the previous version for the time being? Switching browsers seems a tad drastic just because one update is causing problems.

It's not really switching browsers IMO. For one thing, you can't run both programs at the same time. It says FF is already running...Everything looks and feels the same, just a tad quicker.

I'm a longtime Firefox user, too, going back to very early versions before it was even called Firefox. However, there have been periodic quality issues over the years, to the extent that you sometimes didn't know if the next update was going to be an improvement or if something would be badly broken. Chrome, OTOH, has been far more consistently stable. It's gradually gone from being my backup when FF was having problems to now being my primary browser. Sure, it's the spawn of the new Evil Empire, but I'm really not thinking about that when I'm doing research or shopping. I just want it to work.

I got really brave and installed Win 10 eval. I'm gonna check out the Edge browser, but I tool around in FF fairly well, and always have. This is my first major issue. PS- Sonar seems fine in 10.

Why would you want to use 64 bit versions? Try IE in 64 bit mode and compare/contrast. All of a sudden it becomes usable.

I gave up on Firefox several years ago. I got really tired of each (regular, I'll admit) update breaking my plugins. Maybe FF now has much of that functionality built-in and is less reliant on third-party plugins, but I wouldn't know. It took me a bit of time to get used to Chrome, but I really like it now. Fast enough, and I love being able to sync my calendar and task lists between my Samsung phone, Nexus tablet and Dell PC. That bit of functionality was the game-changer for me. Oh, and Google Keep. Love it. If I get a lyric or song idea while I'm out and about, I note it in Keep on my phone and it's there on my PC when I get home.
