Dunno, listening to the demos... I'll have to give it a more extensive listen. Pretty underwhelmed from what I was expecting to come out. :(

I looked for this new AD pack at the XLN site, but couldn't find it in the web shop. Is it only accessible via the online installer?

It's not on the shop yet. You have to open the AD2 standalone client and scroll to the previews for it

It's not available yet...
Terra, I thought it sounded pretty good...I went through the presets. Is it the "be all - end all" of drum kits...of course not...

BTW...if you DO want some pretty awesome drums I highly recommend checking out ProDrummer from EastWest...they're are right up there with BFD 3....I'm still anxiously awaiting SD 3...whenever that happens to get out of the gate...but I'm not holding my breath...

Heh maybe when ProDrummer hits a 60-70% sale I'll buy it but not for the price they have it at now. I've not heard anything with it yet that has impressed me and I'm pretty happy with AD2.

I have to say, for the money AD2 is probably the most "bang for you buck"... they're easy to use, sound great, and, if you own Platinum, free...what's not to like? At 50% off ProDrummer would be a steal...as would be BFD 3 at 50% off... These are the BEST drums out there right now IMO...

I haven't used my reg codes from Sonar Platinum yet, I wonder if they can be used to get this new ADpak?

There was some discussion (I think Bapu had all the Adpacks before Platinum and wanted to save it for the future) on this, but XLN didn't allowed this as it was only for the current list of Adpacks (at the time of upgrade/purchasing of Plat). Someone might chime in and confirm this.

I picked up a few kits in the November/December sales last year. I have what I need really, but there is mor stuff I'll could have. I'm going to see those sales this year and not know until January if Sonar will bundle more codes, and probably have to miss out on the sales. XLN are pretty slow at adding, so I can't there being a stack of new stuff to risk taking advantage of the sales and of Sonars bundled codes. At least we just seen a stack of sale stuff, so at worst I'll have to wait a year.

Damn, no new kit pieces. Being you buy an AdPak, Kitpeice and MidiPak together, I think there should be a kit piece for every AdPak. Thought I had 2 to cash in on, but just found it's 5. No shakers in AD2 as far as I'm aware.

I liked the demos that were in AD...they sounded good. Is it the best kit ever? No...is it nice? Yes...IMO... Right now, for me, ProDrummer Chiccarelli and Stent are right up there with BFD 3, and that's saying a lot. BFD 3 kicks some serious BUTTOCKS....

Just seeing the word Pop in a drum pack makes me want to pass on by. Maybe because I have enough that came with other things so I don't need to go looking for it on purpose. I just got the Black Velvet pack at the recent sale and boy, I really like that.

Yeah BD, that Black Velvet is something else....that was the first Ad pack I got and is one of my favs. I also like Blue Oyster (I'm a big John Bonham fan) and it's also really good. I'm also in no hurry to get this Pop kit since I have all (except Metal) and will wait for a 50% or less price tag before buying this (eventually).

United Pop is just the (current) name of the studio (like the Fairfax Paks), it shouldn't be taken as a genre suggestion! I bought this two days ago when it came out (liked the demos), and I wouldn't say it's any more "poppy" than the Fairfax paks. Love the nameless giant 26" ride and the very trashy vintage K hihat! Crashes are very good as well, except for for one of the four which decays weirdly (they must've modified it in some way). The Ludwig snare is a lot crisper than than the one in the Fairfax vol. 2, like the resonant head is tuned much higher. I like it a lot! The "Trump" snare is not my cup of tea... Toms are wetter (more room in the close mics) than FFv2 but drier than the Indie pak. The kick is less scooped than the Fairfaxes as well, I like it! Overall I'd say this Pak is sort of in between Fairfax vol. 2 and Indie in terms of tone and purpose! I really like this Pak and will certainly be using it (which is more than I can say of BFD3, which I bought full price this winter and haven't used for a single real project yet). Sven

The 'Skinny Top, Heavy Bottom' demo doesn't sound like pop to me.
