Buy Sonar Platinum with Addictive Drums 2

Hi,

Can someone help me. I own Sonar X3 Studio and was planning to buy new drum software. I have been testing AD2 and EZdrummer 2 and they both have their pros and cons. I am considering AD2 because of the flexibility that EZdrummer 2 does not have (that's why it's called EZ :-).

If I check the XLN website I can buy a package of 199 euro's. But checking an upgrade of my Studio X3 to Platinum gives me the same price and it comes with about the same AD2 package.

Is it therefore a wise decision to upgrade to Platinum or is there a catch? In other words do any of you know if I am missing something that might dissapoint me later.

Further can anyone confirm that the AD2 package that comes with Platinum can also be used in other hostst. I also own Cubase Artist 8 and would like to use it there too. I already saw some confirmations but would appreciate some more feedback.

All advice is highly appreciated.

X3E Studio (64 bit),Win 7 (64 bit), Roland Quad-Capture, i5 quad core CPU, 8 Gb.

AD2 that comes with Sonar update is a fully standalone package that you can use in other DAWs.

No trick. Certainly makes the update even more valuable.

    Hi Mike and Scook,

Thanks very much for the superquick advice. This forum is absolutely great! I can put a question like this on the Cubase forum and not get a response for weeks :-). I follow this forum frequently because it's helpfull and so userfriendly. So my compliments to you all.

The available choices make it even more tempting. The offer on the XLN site do not let you choose between packs. Only thing I found a bit uneasy about AD2 was the way you have to deal with beats you change. When you fiddle about with a beat (e.g. transforming or choose the replace option in the grid) you want to save that for future use. From what I understand you need to drag the pattern to your sequencer first and then place it in the exernal midi files folder and then refresh that within AD2. Is there an easier way of doing this? EZdrummer allows direct drag and drop from within the interface itself. Well.... that's actually the only question I have about AD2. The rest is more flexible than EZdrummer in my opinion.

    Thanks....

XLN audio is very aggressive in their emails, their installation covert operations, and the like, so be sure you are ok with that kind of thing.   I regret having downloaded anything, since I don't use it anyway.

I'm pretty sure you can do this with AD2 and most of the main drum vsti's let you do this.

If you're looking for something a bit more advanced than the afore mentioned I would strongly advise having a look at BFD3, obviously 'more advanced' also means more complex but it's well worth it.

Apart from getting an excellent sounding drum vst in AD2, you're also getting Platinum that has a boat load of plugins/instruments/fx/Pro Channel modules etc...which are all included....plus all the monthly updates.

The AD2 Producer bundle was one of the main deciding factors for me to upgrade to Plat, and I'm also very pleased with all the rest that comes with Plat (even if I don't use a lot of them, it's reassuring to know it's there if I need it). I think it's a win-win situation for you.....go for it!! :))

What Mesh said. That is as close to a "no brainer" as you can get if you were thinking about getting Addictive Drums anyway.

    It's Bass, not Bass.
