How to Turn Off Automagic Clip Labels?
Since upgrading to Everett, when I bounce a soft synth to a track the clip gets a label with the channel name. It also appears to be impossible to get rid of, bouncing to clips no longer works. On top of that, bouncing to a new track gives you a really long label with the synth name, channel, and the '(Bounced)' indicator which has no relation to the actual sound on the track. For example: Omnisphere 1 Omnisphere_A_Stereo (Bounced). Usually, I rename the track to something like 'Pad'. Is there any way to turn this freaking annoying behavior off?

I'm not sure, but I think if you first name the track to which you are bouncing, the new clip will take its name from that.

Yep, I noticed that. Thanks. It would be nice to be able to simply turn off clip labels. Better yet, let me edit them! MIDI clips especially. I promise, I know where the clip came from, most of the time.

I believe this was done to avoid problems with ARA and clips without any name. At least it came up in some unofficial bug report on here.

That sounds like a classic primary key issue. There are better ways to resolve those kinds of problems. I've got 6 tracks with exactly the same label.

Since upgrading to Everett, applying an effect to a clip does no more delete the clipname. There were made some changes to the behavior of clips.

I believe that you can edit / reme tracks through the clip inspector, as mentioned by DRanck. You can also leave notes (settings, description, etc) per track.
Best of luck.

Therein lies the rub, now I have to manually edit every bounce if I don't want to see the label Sonar thinks the clip should have. The original behavior (no label) was much better.

How is no label better than a label? Is it that much of an eyesore or does it impair some functionality for you?
