midi fx that can filter double notes from live midi data
Does anyone know a midi vst that filters double notes from the midi data?. I've tried to use Midi Event Filter to block notes with small duration, but Dur (duration?) setting doesn't seem to work. I need to do this kind of filtering because I've got a faulty ribbon controller (eowave) that sends randomly double notes. I've tried to contact eowave with no luck. Cheers, Jani

Maybe not what you are looking for, but REAPER can do this for you, if you have REAPER, you could export your MIDI, load it in REAPER, open in PRV/MIDI Editor, then just select the notes, then select 'Remove Duplicate Notes' save and export MIDI, and back into Sonar [Edit] Ahhh, missed the important part 'LIVE' sorry :(

Maybe midiDuplicateBlocker from http://www.thepiz.org/plugins/It disregards velocity for notes as being same, so works for your purpose. Download the full set of midi plugins: http://thepiz.org/pizmidi/pizmidi_x64.zip It's a midi plugin but you can load inside Metaplugin at http://ddmf.eu either together with a synth or just alone using midi out to serialize with whatever else on another track. I have not been able to load these plugins directly in Sonar, but works fine in Metaplugin.

Thanks lfm, midiDuplicateBlocker seems to work with Metaplugin. Without it, it just gives error message in Sonar Platinum. midiDuplicateBlocker have just one problem, there can't be same notes in a row on the played melody. And I'm not sure that I'm willing to invest on that Metaplugin either, because I have no else use for it. Edit: Metaplugin demo seems to be otherwise fully working version, but settings can't be saved. Cool!. Hopefully I can resolve this double note bug/fault with EoWave some time soon. It seem's like there's something wrong with the de-bouncing filter on the Ribbon, because it sends very short note on/off message and then the real one. Brando, Undupe Cal is for midi clips only? I installed a demo version of Frank's midi fx earlier today. The Demo version of Delete Doubles removes only half of the double notes and Eowave Ribbon sends those double notes randomly, so it's hard to check if it works for me or not. Frank's Midi plugins definitely works directly on the midi fx rack tho. I've also noticed that Sonar Platinum is more picky on those double notes than Renoise. Renoise doesn't hang notes ever, but Sonar will quite often. On the Linux world, there's a free midi plugin collection (Midifilter.lv2) which could have working "duplicate blocker" plugin. I'm wondering is there a way to use .lv2 plugins on Windows machines.

CAL does not work in real time. There are Windows lv2 hosts, SONAR is not one of them.

Yes, that is probably the effect of DuplicateBlocker, that is a drawback for many(maybe most) tunes for ordinary playing. So it might need to be activated for your strip thingy only - as I understood you idea. Brando's suggestion for Franks Midi Plugins is probably better suggestion if notes really get the same timestamp - as I understand from description.

Yes, Undupe is midi clips only, and as Scook notes, is not realtime. (Sorry, missed your LIVE MIDI need).
