Non-destrictive Remove Silence?
Is there any way to automatically split clips when the level drops below a threshold, without also silencing the audio outside the clip boundaries? So you can still fine tune the edits afterwards?

Any update on this? I am looking forward to upgrade to the "New" SONAR Platinum from X3 Producer. But this function is what I missed much in X3. Hope they at least managed to fix Attack Time and Look Ahead in Remove Silence, as they were desperately broken in X3... ((

"Remove Silence" has never worked proberly since many years. And I use Cakewalk since 1995. Cakewalk has never changed anything on it. Some parameters do not work.

THambrecht Cakewalk has never changed anything on it. Some parameters do not work. That's a real pity for mixing engineer who needs to work fast, doesn't want all that noise in his mix, doesn't want to waste CPU resources on processing noise and silence, and who wants to clearly see waveform he is really mixing... =( (Yes I know I can use gate, but that's not the same)

You can use a gate as a region FX and then bounce to clip?

Remove Silence still needs fixing. You can split clips at thresholds with AudioSnap. That doesn't address "split when going below the threshold," but does address "split when going above the threshold," in which case you can slip-edit "backwards" to remove quiet parts. Also remember that if you Select All clips, you can add the same fade-in or fade-out time to all of them.

Do you mean Region FX or Process Effect? Because Region FX needs ARA plugin (and I have only Melodyne, no compatible Gate). And Process Effect is destructive, but yes it does exactly what Remove Silence should (with one more step though, and I can't bind it to keyboard shortcut).

Thanks! I will try what AudioSnap has to offer, never thought to use it this way... =) (But I hope one day they will fix and upgrade Remove Silence, that is one of the few features I really miss after migrating from Cubase...) Yes I do it all the time, thanks!

I meant clip fx, sorry. Pretty much the same as process effect really.
