Hello Olivier, I just listened to "Soleil De Paris" and consider it to be a very nice and well made ballad. All instruments are clear and distinct. I was very impressed with the soundscape of the acoustic and electric guitars as well as the electric bass. I like the way you left the electric guitar in the mix after the first solo. By the way, you did not mention if that was you, or someone else, singing the vocal but it is a pleasent voice that sits well in the mix. Some suggestions: Snare drum brushes sounded nice but the tom hits and ride cymbal were not as pronounced. I would pan the ride cymbal more to the right of center. I would also boost higher frequencies on tom and ride cymbal. Alternately, ask drummer to retrack tom hits and ride cymbal using stick instead of brush then mix the two sounds together. There is very little lateral blending of the channels. You have three lateral spaces: left, center and right. At the same time, your use of effects is very effective as you build a very nice sounding soundscape. You may want to consider using effects to help blend the lateral space into a whole by panning the the instrument and the effect opposite each other. For instance if you have the acoustic guitar panned 30% left then pan either the guitar delay, reverb or both 30% right.

Hi, Thank you for listening and posting comments. Thanks also for the tip with the drumming( SD2) I didn't imagine to blend brushes and sticks and I will give it a deeper look. Concerning the stereo image ,I always struggle trying to widen the mix but barely reach satisfying results ,will also give a deeper look to your suggestion . I am the singer😎. Cheers, Olivier

Olivier, this is a very fine ballad and a refreshing change of pace. The panning suggestion is a good one, though I wasn't distracted in any way by the way it is now. The main thing that caught my ear was the sizzle in the background which I finally figured was the brushes. They lacked definition but were not unpleasant. A tweak or two and this is a gem.

Hi, Thanks to all for the way you welcome songs here. I tried to build a better mix on " Soleil De Paris" folowing different tips I took here and there, not such an easy job because I think my ears sometime go ...deaf ,also Sonar sometime crashes ,so ...everything is allwright but I hear on this song a kind of a saturation and I'm not able to tell where it comes from. Anyway here is a new try ,and I think I will have to work on it in the coming days. Thanks again for your comments and for your positve advices. Cheers , Olivier

A nicely written song. Very pleasant to the ear. The piano part is lovely. I also love the lead guitar work. Good work.

Hi Kevin, Thanks for your comment, I will give some time to listen to your songs but there are so much to hear around there that I cannot tell you it will be just now, also I work outside so I'm not connected during the day,and I'm old fashion so my music computer is not connected, but I will find the time. Cheers

Ok, Another try on this one. Comments are welcome but I think I'm gonna take a rest with this one...Kind of hard work ..Too much time on the same song and one doesn't hear anything anymore... Also Sonar crashes from time to time and all the work is gone because when I get caught in the process,it happens that I forget to save( actually close the project and then close Sonar,it is the safiest way I have found to face crashes😜) but no problems when everything goes away,it is a kind of a karma and when I go back to it,the outcomes are generally better than what I lost. Thanks to all of you for the help and the capacity you have to make me dig deeper than I would have done by myself. Cheers Olivier

Hi rimshot and ohgrant Thank you for your positive comments glad to hear that you did appreciate the song and that the mix holds on your systems, I think all selftaught "musicmakers" are facing the kind of issues I battle with ie it seems to sound in the monitors but as soon as I play the tune somewhere else the tonal balance is wrong,so go back to it bring one voice more upfront then another one disappeared ,so bring it back and it doesn't sound anymore and so on... It is a learning process but progress are slow.. Cheers, Olivier .

This sounds pretty good just the way it is. I can't hear anything that stands out as a problem or is distracting in any way. Great job! Love the piano and guitar contrasts. Regards, Dan

I especially liked the way you mixed the guitar and piano. The vocals are a fine addition to this french ballad. A very restful ballad with much character!! I enjoyed it!
