Melodyne does have a snap to key function internally. You may need to set the proper key on the left edge, but when you select the "correct pitch" button in the upper right there are options to set strength of corrections to pitch center and drift. At the bottom of that dialog is a "Snap to [key]" checkbox. This is in the Editor version... I *think* that is also all there in Essential.

If you want to tune the vocal so its sounds perfectly in tune, you will have to spend some time on it. If you do not care about how the vocal sounds, then the snap tune will work for you. Nothing good comes easy, as with everything in life, CJ

thanks guys, I'm trying Melodyne in standalone as it crashes my Sonar. Don't mind the crash as I understand it must be some external plugin or hardware drivers causing that, and it's impossible to have all music software out there compatible with eachother. Was hoping since there are good autotune boxes for guitar and vocals nowadays, a simpel pitch correcting plugin would exist. I just don't want to learn another programm like Melodyne, enjoy working on music but I hate all the software trouble shooting and after that having to learn programms and every time have to figgur out where the basic controls/functions are. The Computer music industry should have agreed on 1 format for the basic controls sometime...I hope it will someday

Hi Wouter, melodyne as region effect is not crashing Sonar if you take the recommended buffersize of 1024 samples. good luck

XLN gave away Nectar Elements for a period of time to certain customers (can check your XLN account and go to the bottom of the page - this was done during the X3 days). IIRC, there is a real-time pitch corrector in that program, but cannot attest to how good it is. It is in the middle right of the VST (again, I think it needs to be given a key to work with). Melodyne will open an entire track (or even song), but sometimes the audio buffers need to be jacked through the roof to do so (as mentioned above).

thanks Mettelus again, will remember I can check Nectar Elements Now trying V-vocal again as I didn't have the patience to learn Melodyne basic functions...agree on that required buffer. Now trying to get some pitch correction work routine with V-vocal.

I don't find it takes long to set Melodyne to snap to the nearest note and then to tweak the vocally manually. In answer to your question about one knob or one button, I think this is one case in which Antares works a little better, but Melodyne is fine. The thing is, if the singer is way off, Melodyne (or any tool) won't know which note to pick. If the singer is supposed to be singing C# and is slightly flat, no problem. But if the singer sings a C more or less on pitch, Melodyne has to figure out if you want a B, C, or C#. That was the issue I always had with hardware devices (like the TC Helicon). I ended up feeding it a MIDI melody.
