[Solved] - Minimize playlist and it disappears ...
Title says it - anyone noticed/reproduced yet? Unpin and minimize playlist and it disappears into neverland. I have no means to bring it back - at least none found so far ... it keeps running in the background ... Since I always had it pinned it's not a showstopper, but it may well be one if you are not aware of that problem. Anyone found a way to make it visible again?

In an unmaximized window, it tends to hide behind my control bar here, which I have located at the bottom of my lower (Main) monitor below my track view - but if I maximize the track view on that display, the minimized play list then stays on top of my control bar when it is minimized. SONAR (more likely Windows) seems to want the display maximized to a display to deal correctly with minimized app icons. It would be nice if SONAR could reserve a blank row at the bottom of a maximized window just for keeping minimized views accessible.

I had a look at this again ... my Playlist in Everett, update #1 disappears completely from screen - nowhere to be found again and requires Sonar to be restarted to get it back ... And - this also happens with the pin enabled ... so this turns into a show stopper because it's way too dangerous to have that happen during a show, thus having to restart Sonar and reload playlist, etc ...

That's not happening here. In fact I just retried and either pinned or unpinned, with my screen maximized, Playlist always minimizes to the lower monitor corner (in my case) just on top of my control bar. I am also running Everett Update #1, also 64 bit, but on Windows 8.1. I also tried dragging the playlist to my top monitor and minimizing from there, both pinned and unpinned, and it also seems to minimize correctly.

I just tried creating a new playlist (above was with an existing only) to confirm, and see the same behavior with a new playlist as when opening an existing one.

very interesting - i wonder if someone else could also give this a try so that I could figure out what is causing this ... here's a screencast video to see/believe the issue: https://www.dropbox.com/s/51t55l4ez6zd8i0/Playlist-disappears.mp4?dl=0 this is win 8.1 ... live tablet DAW, which has just been completely rebuild, all windows 8.1 updates installed, Sonar installed via CCC to all green lights ... ... and it's not happening on the other DAW (win 7) ...

Your Sonar is unloaded/empty. I have been trying this with a project loaded. Let me try it again when I am back at my daw-

just confirming that minimizing the playlist still works correctly here in an empty SONAR - (just wanted to be sure I was covering the bases)

thanks for your efforts, brando. i appreciate it. this is weird. it does work on my other DAW as said above, but not on the fresh rebuild ... what a strange world this is ;-)

no one willing to speculate why this can happen on one machine (clean rebuild, all updates) while not on others ???

If you open a new project using the default SONAR Normal template (meaning the out of the box unaltered Normal template), and open a new Play List and minimize it, does this strange behavior still manifest itself? Or does the Play List minimize correctly? If it works correctly, maybe it's something wrong with a template you've been using.

No, unfortunately still the same. tried with new project created and opened as well as new playlist, but always get same behaviour. BTW, playlists in X3 on the same machine work fine after clean rebuild i.e. the playlist itself is not the problem ....

Interesting. I'm using X3 Producer, and it's working fine for me, and Brando is using Platinum x64 and it's working fine for him, but not for you only on this one machine, and only with Platinum x64. It's, apparently, something system specific. Do you have Platinum 32bit installed. Can you check the playlist issue using the 32bit version of Platinum? Are you using the native resolution for your PC monitor? Just wondering if the playlist is hiding somewhere out of view. Those are the only things that come to mind right now.

Thanks, Thomas, you nailed it ! When I'm using the recommended/optimal display resolution, the playlist minimizes into nowhere. When using a coarser display resolution, the playlist minimizes as it should (so this is a workaround). So something wrong here in the underlying system (win8 or graphics driver). I will probably stay with X3 for the live shows a bit longer as X3 has been tested 100 times with our setup (although Platinum has faster load times) ... and keep an eye on this problem (maybe a win8/graphics/sonar update fixes it) while doing more tests with Platinum...

Cool. Glad you have a work around. But things really should work without issue using your native recommended screen resolution. Cya around.
