Too bad right-clicking the folder itself doesn't give the option.  I did get it done by selecting the folder, then right-clicking one of the tracks inside the folder.

Thanks

I've used project and single track templates plenty.  I just never tried a folder before.

Re: Is it possible to create a multi track template with folders? 2015/06/17 16:58:44 (permalink)
I have a number of track templates with tracks that:
  create the folder
  create the tracks
  create the busses
  adjust the routing
  add the fx
  add the instruments
Etc.

I created these mainly for old projects that were started before I settled on how I wanted buses.
So one track template is just for creating the main buses and routings
   Main Audio out
   Master Mix
   Vocals all
     Vocals Main
      Vocals other
   Instruments all
     Purc all
     Guitars All
     Synths all

Inserting the guitar template creates
  Folder
Tracks   (all routings: output, buses, effects)
     Guitar E 1  Amp 1
     Guitar E 1  Amp 2
     Guitar E 1  Direct
     Guitar E 2  Amp 1
     Guitar E 2  Amp 2
     Guitar E 2  Direct
     Guitar Acc  Mic 1
     Guitar Acc  Mic 2
     Guitar Acc  Direct

  Buses
Guitars All  (output to Instruments All)
     Guitar E 1
     Guitar E 2
     Guitar Acc
     Guitar 1 reverb
     Guitar 1 distortion
     Guitar 1 modulation
     Guitar 2 reverb
     Guitar 2 distortion
     Guitar 2 modulation

And so on. I find it easier to delete unneeded tracks than adding when desired.

Also, now, I do not load a project template for a new project. I open a basic project and then add the Buses template first.

This means the Master Template Project is a project that I use to maintain the track templates. This way I only have one place that needs to be maintained rather than multiple templates. When I find I want another bus to be part of each project, I add it in this project and save the track template, and Bob's yer uncle.

Because I use a lot of buses I am yearning for bus folders. How can those not be a no-brainer?

Yeah, the menu only comes up clicking on a track, but works. Be sure to select all the tracks before saving as a template (or the tracks you want in the template).

ASUS ROG Maximus X Hero (Wi-Fi AC), i7-8700k, 16GB RAM, GTX-1070Ti, Win 10 Pro, Saffire PRO 24 DSP, A-300 PRO, plus numerous gadgets and gizmos that make or manipulate sound in some way.
