30 Day Refund Policy for Rapture Pro
I asked for a refund for Rapture Pro a couple of days ago and was told by Cakewalk Product Support that refunds aren't allowed after 30 days. So all us who stayed on board to see if it would be fixed are stuck with it. Anyone on the fence about requesting a refund be aware of this time limit. Jim

If you don't mind - can you list the issues you are having with it? Thanks, Bob Bone

Already covered elsewhere esp in the two stickies up top. For me. 1) Stuck notes in Machine (and other daws away from Sonar). 2) Lack of sample mangement meaning hard if not impossible get all samples under one folder. When we open samples hard to know where they live (yes it is hidden in the log file somewhere). Right now my files are all over the place. 3) Hard coded log files. 4) Lack of settings section allowing for sample management, custom file paths for sample locations, log files, sample rates etc (why should I have to look up a shortcut key?) 5) Speed of loading. No splash screen making it hard to tell if it's starting or not. 6) Fear it will end up being handled like z3ta+2 for instance which still has stuck note issues and other bugs not fixed. 7) There are a few more specific bugs with the core functionality others have noted. 8) Promises that patches were coming out quickly to fix some of this, we are still waiting. 9) UI when browsing the sample library is way too small. In the world of modern software I should not need to hack the registry. I should be able to relocate my samples and prog files easily. The silent samples should never have happened (at least it was more or less fixed but still required user intervention and access to legacy folders rather than import to a new folder).I should be able to access settings in the UI and not just shortcut keys, I should not have to work around hard coding. Above all I assumed I was paying for major improvements in Rapture and Dim Pro. Rap Pro would at least address all the shortcomings of both. That never happened. What came out may have passed as a rough beta but not a final consumer product in the year 2015.

Bob Doktor Avalanche's points 2 to 9, and especially the last 2 paragraphs, cover my issues. I assumed is was paying for a professional quality product that I could install and use immediately, and would perform in an acceptable way. I have vst instruments from many other vendors (AAS, Arturia, Native Instruments, Korg, Spectrasonics, etc) and have never had problems like this before. My idea of what is acceptable is based on my experiences with products from these vendors, and Rapture Pro falls far short of my expectations. And 7 weeks after launch, there are still problems, and if you preordered, and waited for the 1st fix (which took more than 30 days to arrive) as I did, you cannot get a refund. Very disappointing.

Does anybody recall seeing this 30 day refund policy documented anywhere? I took a quick look thru the attachments to my order and didn't see it. I have contacted Cakewalk Product Support regarding this, but I haven't heard back yet

How are refunds typically handled for downloaded digital products. I assume in this case, Cakewalk can disable your #serial, thus preventing further updates; but you can continually use the product forever, even after a refund.

I would imagine it would drop back into demo mode or something. Or maybe just keep working as it is, because a lot of people can't use anyway, and it already seems to be crippled for a lot of folks ;) runs and hides (j\k sort of . . . )

Thanks - I was secretly hoping the issues were ones where there were either fixes or temporary workarounds while waiting for fixes. I too really wish Rapture Pro was release-ready, but it may well be a plugin that will take some time to grow into a stable addition to my sound choices. Perhaps you could email/PM one of the higher ups at Cakewalk and see if there is any way to get a refund, or possibly contact support by phone and ask for an escalation to a suprvisor/manager who could maybe make the call to get you a refund - or perhaps trade your purchase towards some other product of theirs, like some Pro Channel effects or something like that. (just tossing out ideas) Cakewalk seems to be pretty good about trying to make things right for folks, so I am hopeful that some kind of workable solution is out there and that can be achieved. :) Bob Bone

Im not happy with Rapture Pro but Dean offered me a alternative which i am 100% happy with untill Pro gets its first update... 2.0.1 isnt a update its a pre-release fix for OSX or OS HELL!. if they patch the issues i have i will never complain about Rap Pro as i love its sound and patchs. Its just un-usable and im not willing to wait untill its resolved.

They also patched missing samples, and pointed registry keys to the old Dim Pro and rapture sample folders thus bypassing sample imports into a centralised folder structure entirely in some scenarios.
