Essence - Eletronic instrumental
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HK463wArUn8 My first foray into electronic music. Pretty much just started out as me messing around and experimenting for a bit of fun, but it built up into something I am actually quite happy with. Recorded in Sonar Professional, entirely using soft synths bundled with Sonar (or otherwise available for free).

I enjoyed that. Sometimes our best work comes from just messing around or experimenting. (That's how I had my Son). Kidding. But yeah... Nice track!

Cheers! I should be honest and say I know very little about electronic music, to the point I'm not sure what genre this would be defined as. I composed the main melody whilst messing about on my guitar and built it up around that, playing around with synths and putting in whatever sounds I thought fit. It put me totally outside of my own personal comfort zone, and I had blast putting it together.

It's good to experiment and you got something nice out of it. Kind of has an ambient, new age feel to it as well but I think electronic fits too.

Listen to Tangerine Dream. That is what electronic music is about. Started back in 1969 too. I know its changed and I love the changes and new directions too and where its headed but it does not hurt to go right back to the source, the greats and he was great. (Edgar Froese of course RIP) A lot of the music is on Youtube too. But there are over 140 albums!

Jeff Evans Listen to Tangerine Dream. That is what electronic music is about.
We're singing from the same hymn sheet there Jeff I think Electronic Meditation may be a bit too off the wall for most young "Electronic Musicians" nowadays (and I can't remember the last time I listened to it). My first TD album was Rubycon, which is probably why it is my most favourite albums of theirs

The interesting thing about Tangerine Dream is unlike what many think the music has continually changed and evolved over the years. Edgar did not stand still musically. I saw them live here in Melbourne before he died and the music was amazing. The last album he released (Mala Kunia) has got some real nice tracks on it. Quite different from earlier things. Yes there are similarities but there are also some differences too.

I see there's quite a few Tangerine Dream albums on Spotify. I will definitely give them a listen. I also see they were the people behind the original score on Grand Theft Auto V so I am familiar with some of their work because I've played that game quite a lot.

Nice experiment in Electronic music, the mix comes across well here, thanks for sharing. I would say this is bordering on the edges of chill.

Very nice song Kevin and especially on your first electronic piece (genre doesn't really matter to me as long as it's melodically pleasing.....which you've done very well!!). When listening (x2), I could easily imagine a melody being done to fill in the voids. Thinking out a loud here.....possibly, you can try putting an arp melody in the verse and/or chorus sections and could certainly give it a lift/variety.....(this is of course, is just my opinion and suggestion are to be taken with a grain of salt..... nothing wrong with experimentations rooooight??). Anyway, well done on this.....inspiring me to do some as well.

The music and the video both are cool. This reminded me of clubs that had video of this sort on a screen behind the band in 1970. The video effect is more complex than in those days and for sure the music is different. I sort of miss the days when there were a lot of clubs to go to that had experimental stuff going on. Thanks for a look into thing that you do. Kool !! Billy

Many thanks. The video comes courtesy of Winamp. I simply did a screencap of the Winamp visualizations as I thought it used some really cool and psychedelic effects. I thought as I was doing something completely different to what I usually do, I thought I'd do something different from the normal still picture I upload the songs with.

Hi, Nice tune,it reminds me the old time of the disco..Before you were born,it is probably out of bounds but when I hear those chords It immediatly comes to me a song which said:" my body your body everybody mooves their body" But be reassured your song is much smarter than the one I am talking about. I like it and also can suggest a Tangerine Dream album: Exit. I mess around with similar stuff sometimes and am attempting to add a 'drop' to a current song to create contrast as a mixing and composition idea. Very laid back, yet a touch aggressive at the same time. Mix sounds good, the drums are a little dry and there needs to be a low "boom" for added drama in there somewhere. Just my opinions, of course. Regards, Dan

Sounds like an old-school downtempo dance track, with some new-school wobble synth and tempo-synced plucky leads sprinkled on top. Nicely arranged, and well produced. Personally, I'd be interested to hear what it sounds like when you crank the tempo up a bit. :)
